This guy adds me and we settle on trading my two copies of terraria for his bioshock 2 key. It was supposed to go down like this:
I give him one game he gives me the key i give him second game.
but after i give him the first game he only gives me half a key and says he wants the other game but when I refuse he goes offline, changes his name, unadds me and makes his account private.

I've done a few trades before for keys and they went as according to plan. Even done some paypal for steam ones aswell and I only ever used a middleman once. I became to trusting in steam trade folk and I was fairly pleased with the offer so I wanted to get it done fast and get back to my game. its my fault completely and I feel bad for it. When he first added me his name was TraderPro and I thought to myself, "what an odd name, seems like a scammer kind of name" Last time I go against my gut. I've certainly learned my lesson, but atleast on the bright side I only lost one copy and not both.
Guess I'll go hang up my traders coat now. :'(
Jackfiouse (The scammer as linked above), Posted on my profile asking me to accept his friend request and that he is sorry and that he would like to return my game. I did and we talked for a while. He said my copy was activated on an account and was going to give that account to me. After I told him I had no use for it, I suggested I should get another copy of it back or something of similar value. He then gave me his copy of Terraria which he was saving for himself. He then told me his story as to why he did what he did. In short he got scammed out of his two copies of Terraria by trying to trade for ARMA II CO key and he was so mad and wanted them back so badly he scammed me. After he saw he was banned from steam trades he felt really bad and wanted to make amends.
After all of this I've forgiven him as he seemed to have learned his lesson (I have learned mine as well :P)
So I basically ask for his ban to be lifted.

apparently, i was impersonated again, and the one that got scammed isn't understanding the warning i have on my profile page. he negative repped me. added and tried talking with him, but seems he doesn't understand that i'm not the scammer. could i have this removed and possibly someone explain to him that i've been impersonated :(

gave me a starcraft and diablo 3 account for battle.net, i gave him battlefield 2 and 3 for it, about 10 minutes later, he deleted me, blocked me, left a fake negative comment on my profile and contacted battle.net about a "stolen account", and got the games taken from the account.
I closed the chat log before i realized he scammed me, if there is anywhere i can get steam logs, tell me and i will get them

Noticing the recent increase in scams, I have been in conversation with Valve over the last few days over 1 specific scammer (http://steamrep.com/profiles/76561198067572370), and recently they informed me he will no longer be a problem. (I am assuming a total account ban). Everyone remember to NEVER GO FIRST UNLESS YOU ARE 100% SURE THEY ARE LEGIT (e.g., Yatterman,Eltolad,FrozenBlade, etc.) I hope people will continue to report scammers and make Steam/Steamtrades a better community.

today i got scammed for a trade i did 2 weeks ago. yeh 2 weeks ago guy traded his origin account for few steam games. i gave that account to my bro.. but today it's not working so i log to the mail i put and saw trader has reset email back to his account..
origin account pass and email can be reset if u know the b'day u put when creating EA account so that's how he done it. so now i have got scammed 2 times and both times with origin accounts.. :(

I goofed and lost out on some minor keys for a fake key, then obviously unfriended and blocked me immediately, he probably has a steamtrades account, but I don't have it.
I had someone add a negative rep to my profile because I gave them a negative rep for having an abrasive attitude towards me after I refused to add a game for a trade. In their comment, they made a complete fabrication by saying I tried to scam them and that they had to "delete me". I was never on their list to be deleted, nor did I try to scam them. I simply refused to add anything to a trade and they started calling me a "newbie trader". I am requesting that this negative rep be deleted from my profile. Also, here is the thread where he began calling me a "newbie trader". Thanks!

I didn't start anything with him. I left him a negative rep because he started calling me a newbie trader because I wouldn't add a game in a trade where I offered Stacking for Jade Empire. Both were priced at $3.74. He got mad and started calling names. I had reason to leave a negative rep. However his claim that I tried to scam him is untrue and that's what it says in the negative rep that he left. If you look at the thread, you would see I didn't start anything. I just said I wasn't going to add a game. He could've said "no trade then" and left it at that. No problem.
The point is, you don't leave someone a negative reputation because they insulted you. If you take insults like that so easily, i'd suggest not going on the internet.
That's fine. But he still shouldn't lie about me trying to scam him. That's a complete fabrication, and scamming is something that people generally take very seriously around here. If you're labeled a scammer, people don't want to trade with you.

I don't know, I wouldn't want to deal with someone who is unecessarily rude. I think that kind of information should be given somehow.
We already report and ban scammers and deceptive traders (who are technically scammers). Doesn't this render the use of negative feedback kind of useless? Not to mention the risk with marking these people is that they mark you back. But we're getting onto a topic that has its own thread for discussion so I'll leave it there.

That's incredibly unfortunate though it technically isn't a scam. Still, someone to be wary of.
He is also rude, and added me to trade back but dint, he made a joke about everything, i advice to no one trade with him
He has no right to refund you your games, you completed the trade you wanted, you never agreed to a ROW or RU copy at all in the trade. If the game is for your own account, you should be able to contact steam support after you activate it to get it region swapped.

No, go search him on steam rep and put it there, I started a thread on him. Also contact the steam.com support and get his ass banned.
Just kicking in here; from what I know, Steam doesn't ban for scamming someone in trading :) That is a VAC Ban you are talking about/account de-activation. That's only for hacking/extreme cases!
Still good effort, and he should definetly be banned on any Steam-related site!

ya he stole zombie shooter 1&2 keys from me. didn't care much cause no one seem to want them keys and probably would have given them free if asked. i'm not even sure if he got them cause when he logged off i posed them in trade chat.
not much you can do after hes been labelled on steamrep cause valve don't care. traders should have some sort of rep listed on their account but like i said valve don't care.
Me to dont care for keys, but he can scam other people for big gift games. Somebody must stop him.
