  • rep AVOID TRADING IF YOU ARE A RESELLER

TLDR:
Sold me 2 keys for 10 TF2 keys that were later revoked and unusable. I provided clear proof from Steam support that the keys were invalid, but he refused to refund or replace them. Keeps shifting blame to Humble/Dev and takes no responsibility as the seller. Unreliable trader who does not stand by his deals. Avoid unless you’re ready to take all the risk yourself and lose money.

Detailed explanation:
On 18/06/2025 I bought 2 keys for the game Stranded: Alien Dawn from BigAppleFan for 10 TF2 keys (5 TF2 each). I listed the games for sale, since I am a reseller, and 1 month later on the dates 16/07/2025 and 17/07/2025 I sold both keys. Shortly after each sale I've received complaints for each of them with proof from the customers that the keys did not work at all. I then contacted BigAppleFan and informed him about the problem. His first words were "steam can easily proof the redeem date" which is true indeed and after some chit-chat about it with him I decided to contact Steam Support and ask them about the date of activation of the keys even though I doubted they will provide me with the info since I've already asked them too many times. To my surprise Steam did answer my support ticket and provided the info about the keys and they stated the following: "As per checking, we want to confirm that the CD Key for this game has been revoked by the game publisher. This can happen when a batch of keys are stolen, or perhaps the key was for a beta game that has shipped and you'll need to purchase it."

Proof: https://imgur.com/a/8A5ntuQ

I then provided this proof to BigAppleFan, he mentioned that Humble sucks and will send a request to see what they will do for us. At this point I expected him to take responsibility for the keys and refund the 10 TF2 keys but he did not. In 2 days time he asked me why is nobody replying to his HB ticket and that he thinks the developer took our key without our consent (which is total nonsense usually but what can you do). He wanted to trade again but we did not end up making a deal. A few days later he says that it seems that he cannot ask for a replacement since he bought it from someone else and got gift links (apparently) and he has asked original buyer to send a ticket. I said 'no pressure from my side" and that he can refund the 10 TF2 whenever he can. He then stated that he thinks its humbles fault, not his and that when he sold me the keys, they were good. (which implies that he isn't going to refund at all) - so we chit chat a bit who's fault it is and so on. At the end of the day, If I personally sell keys to someone and those keys are not working (no matter in how much time), I would refund 100% if he has provided me with concrete proof (like i did). Anyways, a day later he provides a screenshot where someone said that he tried an NA locked key for the same game on 18/6/2025 and it worked (which implies that the keys he sold me worked at the time of our trade) - which still doesn't make sense, the keys got revoked anyways. Later on, from our chat you can see that he decided to not refund at all and that my communication was making him feel uncomfortable and I have been 'twisting' things apparently. Gaslighting me into feeling guilty if you ask me but thats another thing.

At the end of our conversation the fact that I have been scammed with 10 TF2 is obvious. BigAppleFan is refusing to refund and is not taking responsibility as a seller even though I have provided enough proof that the keys were revoked. I suggest any resellers to avoid this trader so they dont lose money. Additionally, the fact that this person is using an alt account for his trading and there are no linkages to his main account (i still dont know his main account til date) is suspicious as well. He might be plotting an exit scam soon so be aware. Of course Im just speculating but since he is already suspicious with his behavior this might happen.

Here is proof of our chats from the time I told him that the keys are not working till today (unfortunately, not all history is saved on steam chat):

My final words are:
Being a reseller doesn’t make someone shady or dishonest. In fact, resellers are an essential part of the trading economy. We help maintain liquidity, move items and games between players who actually want them, and fill gaps in availability that the original marketplaces can’t always meet. By doing so, resellers keep prices competitive, make rare items accessible, and ensure that both casual players and collectors can find what they’re looking for.

It’s also not wrong to make a profit. Profit is what keeps trading alive and motivates people to provide the service of reselling in the first place. What is wrong is profiting without taking responsibility. A trustworthy reseller knows that with profit comes the duty to protect buyers, especially when there’s clear proof that a trade went bad—like revoked keys or unusable items.

A good reseller doesn’t just flip items for gain; they stand by their deals and uphold their reputation. That’s exactly what I expected from BigAppleFan: someone who would do the right thing after being shown concrete proof from Steam Support. Unfortunately, he chose not to, shifting blame instead of making it right.

So, to be clear—reselling itself is not the problem, nor is making a fair profit. The real problem is when a trader refuses to take accountability for failed trades, damaging the trust that keeps the entire community running. And trust is the only reason trading works in the first place.

So be aware and happy trading! :)

EDIT: He never sold me a 'hundred of keys' as he is claiming. I have bought exactly 22 CD keys from him in total.

Message to BigAppleFan:

The classic “not my problem” move is always convenient when things go wrong on your end but it wont get you far, trust me.

Lets be clear, a key getting revoked isnt the same as a game going on sale or being delisted. Thats not an external market change. Thats a revoked license tied directly to how you sourced the key. Saying “it worked when I sent it” is like a restaurant serving raw chicken and saying “Well, it looked fine when it left the kitchen.”

You are not running a mystery box service. You are selling digital products that are expected to be legit and permanent. If a key gets revoked, it means it wasnt either of those. Thats on you - not me.

Trying to lump revokes in with price drops or platform changes is either a serious misunderstanding of how this community works or you do know, and you are just hoping I will back off.

In any trading space that actually values trust, revoked = refund and 99% of the people here will agree ESPECIALLY when there is concrete evidence of revoked keys.

If you’re not willing to stand behind what you sell, maybe dont sell at all. :)

I am not responsible for the key revoking, then I am not responsible for the refund. As we all know, including you, that in this incident, it’s the developer who decided to revoke all the unused keys form HUMBLE for this game. You knew it is from HUMBLE, as a reseller, you know the risk. You kept telling me the reason the price you offer is way lower than the market is you take all the risks after buying the game. Now when the risk did happen, all of a sudden you want a risk free full refund exit?

You keep talking nonsense about my responsibility, what about yours? Why don’t you take the responsibility just like other resellers, since you are the owner, it was sold to you more than a month ago?

Now regarding your poor example in your complaint, I definitely did NOT cook the chicken, its the developer and HUMBLE who did. I am merely the delivery guy, who took it from HUMBLE, and then delivered it to you, am I right?

If I sell you resellers a used key, which never happened during the past years for the hundred of keys I sold you, I will refund you no problem.
BUT, after you got my keys, I am not responsible for anything not caused by me in the future, such as price going up, price going down, game being revoked by humble/dev/publisher, game being delisted by dev/publisher/steam, game being expired by humble, game being free on steam/epic/gog, your computer got hacked and lost all my keys, etc.

To sum up, I can only guarantee resellers a key is not used, because it is the only thing that is UNDER MY CONTROL. Again if you do not like the way the developers revoked your key, then complain to them. I have nothing to do with it, nor can I do anything about it. Like you said, you don't like the chicken, why do you ask the delivery guy for a refund?
