Positive feedback, but the trade I made with Doomie was really anomalous.
For reference, we are talking about this trade https://barter.vg/u/92c1/o/5767692/.
I start sending my Night Terrors key, and they state that it's duplicate. This is something which I wasn't expecting at all, because those keys were recently redeemed from the Hitsquad store page, I've traded many of them, and none ever had any problem. (Some time after the trade I tried checking if I may have possibly already traded that key and forgot to flag it as such, but according to the evidence I was able to examine, that was not the case.)
At that point in the trade, I express my surprise and provide another key to Doomie. They say this one activated successfully; the trade can therefore proceed.
At that point Doomie provides a "Space zone defender" key, but when I test it, it turns out to be duplicate too. Doomie expresses their surprise. The situation seems to be a spell of bad luck, with the next step in the trade consisting in Doomie either providing a new key for the game, or selecting another game as replacement. Doomie states that they don't have another key for the game; I state that I'll accept any game I don't own as a replacement. Doomie provides a key for "Legend of Assassin: Egypt". I test it, it's duplicate.
At that point, considering that barter had no "duplicate errors" notices for any of those three games, I start thinking that it can't be just bad luck. Disregarding the possibility of bad faith, I suggest that Steam may be having some issues, and that it would be better to wait some time before continuing with the trade, and maybe try to test those keys again. Of course it would have been the first time I'd experience that kind of Steam issue, which also would leave open many questions about the tested keys being wasted in the process or not. I start feeling at a loss and believing that insisting with the trade and in testing keys, could make the situation more intricate than it is.
Doomie agrees with my suspicion, citing the possibility of Steam "going under maintenance on Tuesdays" (information which I trusted, and I don't care to verify now), but then asks whether a key for a DLC is good for me as replacement. I confirm. They express their regret for not having been able to provide me with a working key. They provide a key for the DLC "Mighty Party: Academy of Enchantress Pack". I test it, it's also duplicate. I leave momentarily the chat, stating the need to allow some time ti pass.
Shortly after, I talk with some other traders to gather information about Steam having issues, but no one seems to be experiencing them. I decide to buy a cheap key on Kinguin to test if the site is giving duplicate errors on all good keys, but the key activates regularly. I test the keys provided by Doomie again, and once again none of them activates.
At that point, confused and discouraged, I express to Doomie my intention to conclude the trade as it is, to avoid either wasting their good keys, or purposefully being provided duplicate ones. I add that the two Night Terrors key I provided were cheap, and it wouldn't be a big deal for me to lose them. They apologize for the situation, and try to convince me in accepting the key for another DLC, but I decline and state my intention to complete the trade, leave positive feedback on SteamTrades, but also post a description of what happened during the trade.
They reluctantly agree, stating that intention to leave a notice on the site about the outcome of the trade, and their hope of compensating in a future trade the key provided by me.
