We made this trade on barter, which started with a bit of a problem (see first chat screenshot), but ultimately seemed to go smoothly, even though I got no gift links from it, as I would have hoped.
Indeed, I informed them those games were not for me, so gift links would have been best where available, but I accepted their keys anyway on a trust basis.

However, some days later I was finally able to relocate their Shadowrun Returns key and sadly the other party reported it had already been used. Therefore, I asked for a replacement key or even another game, if that was not possible. They only said they didn't have a spare key, but offered no compensation whatsoever.
In the meantime, I retraded another one of the keys I got from the same trade (Hue) and it ended up being a duplicate as well. So I asked again for a replacement, offering again to accept even another game if they preferred so, but I didn't even get an answer this time, as they fell mysteriously silent for five days now, after being pretty talkative up to this point (see second chat screenshot).

In the end, they may well be a good trader, if a bit chaotic, but I would advise you to activate their keys first or only ask for gift links/Steam gifts.

Well, this comes as quite a surprise. The user "girolamocastaldo" comes off as a friendly trader on the surface - taking a look at this reputation across various trading venues I was not in the least hesitant to initiate a trade for a few games. I was wrong. Unfortunately, after a short period of time dealing with him is when I noticed strange things starting to happen.

However, allow me first to preface with some important details.

  • All potential traders are advised that ALL TRADES ARE FINAL. Once keys or gifts are sent, there are NO TRADEBACKS. This helps to prevent impulsive trades or trades which cause remorse.

  • If a key code is traded and you allege that the key is used, I cannot guarantee this is fact. Especially in this case, "girolamocastaldo" does NOT activate the games traded to him. He resells them to other users for profit. I cannot verify if the game I traded to him was used by him or by someone else.

  • He claims that I traded him games that were already used/activated. He approached me through Steam chat almost A WEEK AFTER THE TRADE was completed. This is very suspicious when it comes to trading. I have no way of knowing if he used the games himself or sent the key to someone else.

  • When a trade is made and it is then noticed that a key doesn't work, I will do my best in replacing the game right then and there. There are no guarantees but I will do my absolute best to replace the game that is rightfully yours.

It turns out that "girolamocastaldo" unfriended and blocked me after we successfully completed our trade - seen here. The trade was marked as complete and we went on our way. Why would he unfriend and block me after a satisfactory trade? Very strange.

"girolamocastaldo" decided to unfriend and block me out of the blue without messaging me first so all chat history I had with him is lost. Proof that he blocked me HERE.

In conclusion, games were traded. He claims a week later that the keys don't work even though they were valid keys when I traded and there were no issues. On several occasions, I have attempted to add him on Steam but he refuses to accept my friend request.

This guy made a new account just to falsely accuse me of scamming. False log, faked chat, attempted to frame me for a trade of working keys. He has already been reported to Support and Steamrep.
