Really? The guy has over 1500 positive feedback ratings... you're his first negative one. Care to explain what happened and maybe, you know, provide some screenshots? I mean, if you are to accuse someone of scamming, you need to have proof to back up your claims.
I've traded with Malone several times, pretty much always went first and never, ever had any issues with him.

Hmm impersonators will go a long way to make their profiles identical to the ones they are trying to spoof. You're talking about a Steam ID number... I'm not sure I get what you mean. If the person's Steam profile had a long string of numbers in their URL, you were not talking with Malone. Because he's using a custom URL (https://steamcommunity.com/id/malone86/), no SteamID64 in it.
It could have been an impersonator... or maybe Malone's account has been hacked. I don't know. Again, do you have screenshots?
Edit: About being blocked and having messages disappear... I'm not saying this is not possible (Steam can act weird sometimes), however, I once got someone who tried to pull the "vote for my CSGO team" type of scam and they blocked me when I called them out on it. The chat didn't disappear and I was still able to take screenshots. :o/

I was a newcomer and a fool-you clearly message people on here when you add them, and that is what I should have looked for first, in addition to checking the impersonator's profile credentials thoroughly when he added me.
Dude got to me before my coffee, should've been a red flag, nobody's that hard up for bundle giftlinks.
I'm sorry you were scammed by what appears to be an impersonator. At least, the games you wanted to trade were not worth too much. I mean, it's better to lose $5 than $50.
Don't quote me on that, but I think Steam's support has access to the chat logs so they should be able to retrieve that person and deal with them accordingly.
Now, what I would do if I were you... I'd contact Humble Bundle and tell them you gifted some games to a friend but said friend had their Steam profile hacked. (Don't mention trades. Ever. Otherwise, they probably won't help you) If you can give them proof of your purchase, I think they could disable/revoke the gift links/Steam keys and give you new, fresh ones.
You can check your chat history here https://help.steampowered.com/en/accountdata/GetFriendMessagesLog, but idk for how long it's stored there (I can see messages sent to me 2 weeks ago)
Thanks for your input, I actually was able to find the impersonator thanks to Steam support showing me to the account data page, but the actual helpful link was https://help.steampowered.com/en/accountdata/myactivity
When somebody deletes you from their friends list, the chat history vanishes even from that log, but the record of the impersonator being added to my friends list remained at the above link for me.
**EDIT: That link itself might not work, but the helpful page was 'my activity feed' found in account data.
