I do wonder about the reasoning behind this, though I don't really play dota 2. One should switch over to tf2 keys for trading now I guess and I just just wonder if the price will go up or down. It should dip actually, ppl trying to get rid of them, but prob that will only happen shorty b4 they expire.
think you'll see that the price of dota keys has risen, since supply is now limited.
That's a bad news for the people who spend their money on DotA 2 Treasure Keys
They should do something before their Treasure Keys is removed by Valve
I have 0 stock of DotA 2 Treasure Keys, so me no worry at all :D
lol, price went up for them, but for how much time? This Steam Market economy sometimes is unpredictable, I guess it will keep going up until someday it goes drastically down, I hope Valve won't do this for other keys, or at least ppl who have them can now get their money back by selling them for more price.
it will gradually go down because of everyone wanting to get rid of it. I know the reason why the price rise earlier, it was a bug where you can buy a "chest"( that shall not be named xD) which is worth more than 2.5$ and gives items worth more than it so its price pass 2.5$ as you might imagine.
It is advisable to get rid of them (you may find some ventures so keep that in mind) otherwise Sell them before the price is very low.

The announcement reads:
"All treasure keys will expire and be removed from the game one year from now on July 1st, 2015."
EDIT: The announcement about summer cards was clear on that. They would be removed from store and inventories. The summer cards were some kind of reward actually, even if you could buy them.
The announcements on the Dota2 keys that you mentioned, just tell that the keys will actually be unavailable to use in the game. At least, this is my understanding so far.
Ok then what about coupons ? (when we crafting badge for Steam Profile will get free coupons)
It has expires date also right ? when it expires what happened ? --> That coupons no longer in our inventory (deleted / removed / disappeared)
What most of us affraid is ---> this DotA2 Treasure Keys will be the same as well

But I don't know as well 100% which is the right one : will be delete when expires (just like coupons) or will be stored in our inventory (but just can not be used in DotA 2 game)

A support ticket seems like the way to go, if Support personnel can answer that at this time.
We should all send tickets to support, not just one guy, imho.
I have paid real life money to get one of those keys,
- why should they remove that ?
- why should I be told what to do with it (eg open a chest or something) ?
Tbh, I would like to have one (1) Dota2 key in my inventory for collection purposes.
I don't really care if I will not be able to use in hte game.

Me also has invest my real money for buying hundred of keys, if Steam decide to do the same to other keys, I will lose alot of money also :(
And yes hopefully the DotA2 Treasure Keys just not usable (and can not be bought from Official DotA2 Store) -- BUT -- still can be stored in our inventory and also still can be bought and sold in Steam Market in the future -- This is my hope but... you know as a user I just can only have a hope, it is Steam who decide it :(

Well, make sure that before you keep a Dota 2 Key; it won't be removed completely.

oh well after 10 years of dota i stopped at 1 month of dota 2 because it was horrible.
But i wonder will they refund the money of those for an example that has 200 dota 2 key in their inventory ?
There has been rumors about Steam Wallet Trading. You can look it up on google and you will find links for reddit and such.
If Keys is removed then people will keep using in game items mostly from Team Fortress 2 such as : Refined Metal, Tour of Duty Ticket & Squad Surplus Voucher
And if the items get removed also then many people will soon are forced to start using PayPal, BitCoins, Bank Transfer or... anything else
What I'm affraid is Steam Wallet trading will not work for some people
you know why ? people using Keys / TOD / Ref in trading, because it can be sold for real money
but Steam Wallet can not be cashing out for real money, it will be stuck in Steam
Edit : Steam Wallet in our account can be cashing out for real money
via trading through Steam Market by buy and sell specific items (the buyer will transfer the real money via PayPal or BitCoins or bank transfer or whatever
but there is fee and tax from Steam :|/
It would be almost the same thing. You send money to the other person (with a fee of course), he sends you back the money in Paypal. But your prices have to be cheaper or else he could add the funds himself.
