Just like a cool online community that likes vidya, and occasionally trades games with each other here and there and is passionate. /v/ is like that.
But mostly I find jewish resellers who I don't even think enjoy playing games. They try to nickel and dime everyone to make a few bucks on g2a or something
That's humans for you mate. Some people like to trade to increase their game collection, some like to show off and some like to make profit from it. Those who actually play the game usually have below +25 reps or so because they are actually busy playing the game instead of trading lol. It's fine if you want to leave this place. But you could have put some information with bold and high fonts so people dont be a smartass and offer you random games lol. (Check "Comment Formatting" if you want to know how to do that)

SteamGifts https://www.steamgifts.com (the "mother" of SteamTrades - both sites used to be merged under SteamGifts, SteamTrades was a section of SteamGifts, got separated a while back) perhaps is what you're looking for. Just instead of trades, people make giveaways and encourage giving and not expecting anything in return. The discussion forum and the community there in a whole is perhaps the most healthiest place I've been on the internet.
Here (at ST) people are pretty much straightforward. Everyone is here on "business", like getting the game you missed from a bundle, or getting rid of the keys you got in bundles/trades/somewhere else but you don't need it... and yes, lot of people are here for profits, getting that +1 on the library, getting cards to level up their account... its just what happens anywhere when monetary value is involved.
But if you hang out here enough you'll get used to it and learn to filter the dirt.
Ohhh interesting. I thought that was more of a giveaway site but I saw the discussion boards talking about game related things. It looks like I can't join yet though because my account doesn't have $100 worth of games lol. Maybe one day when I build my library up more.

There is tons of interesting things there, like puzzle giveaways (solving puzzles to get links to private giveaways with fewer entries), events like creating giveaways for a specific cause/date/purpose. You can giveaway to specific steam groups if you want to, that leads to people creating groups for people who have the same interest (like giving away only bundle games, or only RPG games, and so on), or groups for people who had bad luck in the site and won just a couple of games (and many people will join just to contribute).
Anyway, its a very positive and passionate community. Any kind of negative vibe is quickly rejected and anything positive gets attention.
The minimum worth is kind of a bummer, but they had problems before with fake accounts, so it helps on that side. The bad side is that they filter bundled games, so even if you buy a game at full-price on Steam but it has been bundled before, it will count as bundled by SteamGifts (a small % of its full value for their rules).
But anyway it looks like you would enjoy it. Have a good one!

Your account was valued at $0 ? Must be something wrong because you have a lot of games ? Well the thing is, bundled games are removed from valuation. Only main games which were not bundled are counted towards value.

Yep, there is a person who always updates the bundled games list so he is a little slow on updating but that removes the game from counting towards total value (thus my account being just $50 and not over $3000). It's a good thing but kinda kills it for someone who likes to save money by buying bundled games to play.

I am not a re-seller. Having high rep here doesn't mean I'm here for business, and it's frankly quite arrogant of you to assume so.
I wanted a gift link because I already own the game and wanted to gift another copy to a friend. Getting a key I can't verify from a low rep, low level steam account person such as yourself is often a recipe for a headache later.

I'm honestly just doing my best to be understanding with a newcomer who immediately acted disrespectfully towards me and trying to stand up a bit for a community that is dear to me.
Assuming all traders here are only trying to turn a profit and act with malice is a very offensive act on your behalf, so I might have taken it a bit personally.
There aren't many types of people I don't like, but I truly truly despise subhumans who use family and friends stories to further their own agenda and to get what they want. Many nigerian scammers did this during the golden age back in the 2000s.

You will probably not want to trade with anyone over 50 rep (with rare occasions) if you feel as you have said above. My main goal to trade was to get rid of my extra Steam wallet and to try to cash out at a 1:1 ratio for what I traded and sometimes snag a few games I personally wanted. very rarely though because the site is filled mainly with bundled games for the most part so usually that's about all to hope for because everything else is usually trading keys and $ for what's better.
(and even though you may not want to make it clear, you should just say you do not want to trade with resellers or people who want to profit and that you will NOT send as a gift link unless gift links are only for people who don't want to resell or profit.)
It will definitely help dim who you want to trade with, though it might definitely piss off a few in the process. Usually I don't want to sell games I've received in trades for cheap to people that want to resell for a lot. It's an odd thing that I'd prefer to sell them to cheap for people that would want to play them, but who knows. everyone has a preference.
I don't think reasoning with him will get you far... From my experience, the only people who expect others to be garbage are garbage themselves and project.
Also, as an experienced trader, you must know the odds of not being scammed by a low level account with 30-ish games are not very big, so most reputable traders will avoid doing business right off the bat, especially if they are as arrogant as this person and only offer raw keys.
