Have you ever been randomly requested to friend a Steam user where they ask you this sentence below?

This is just an example that I've been asked similarly:

  • " Hello, my friend can't add you, add him please. He want to offer good trade
    steamcomnnunltl.com/id/Pyroman216 "

Most phishers duplicate other users' profile links or even sites, so be advised.

The SITE they're trying to get you to go on is called a " Phishing Site ". The site's aim is to try and obtain any information about your Steam Account.

  • ALWAYS CHECK THE STEAM URL CAREFULLY before you add a certain Steam User.
  • ALWAYS COMPARE THE STEAM URL to the official Steam URL
  • OFFICIAL STEAM URL: [ steamcommunity.com ]
  • UN-OFFICIAL STEAM URL: [ steamcommunitriy.com / steamcomnnunltl.com / steammcommunity.com / steamcomunity.com / steamcommunity.cm ]

What you should NOT DO:

  • 1) Trust them
  • 2) Click the duplicated site
  • 3) Add the user
  • 4) Login at the duplicated site

What you should DO:

  • 1) Ignore
  • 2) Block
  • 3) Report
  • 4) Remove

I advice you to change your password at least every 1-2 months.

I have absolutely no issues with phishers other than that they're annoying. I'm always logged into Steam on my browser, so if it prompts me to enter my username/pass I know something is up.

That's great and indeed they can be annoying. However, the main function of this post is to make users more knowledge-able, more aware and more cautious when trading. This post supports users who are amateur in the trading system and within Steam. This can also imply to any users experienced or not, but who are may be gullible or ignorant or curious.

Seems like a good plan. Too bad the people who are cautious enough to read a post like this are the people who wouldn't get caught by a phishing site to begin with. Well, I hope it saves at least a couple people.
