That's why you check if the person that added you actually is who you agreed to trade with. You click on 'View Steam profile' on their ST profile page to see if it actually links to the same person. When it does, see if you can find your own name in their friends list. Because as you can see some people impersonate other high-rep users by using their name and picture. Also the fact that their profile is private is a pretty good hint.
Said that, mostly everyone seems to get scammed here when they're new.
