Some people don't even accept ref, so I wasn't willing to lose it just to gain more ref.

You aren't "losing a key". Its called giving change. Almost everyone accepts ref for half keys just not full keys.
There are also dozens of bots that you can trade ref to for keys.
I am losing a key! Sure, I get more ref back, but like I said, from my experience of browsing tons and tons of threads, not everyone accepts ref, a lot of people only accept keys and ToD tickets.
I don't use bots.
