It's even worse now. Read the reddit thread again. The scammers found a way to change the appID to make the game name same as the original. There is no more way to distinguish fake from real through the trade window. The image below is fake but you have no way to tell.
Does this change the Community Market price of the items in the trade window too?
I guess browser extensions make that possible because I don't think you can see that when doing trade windows on the Steam client
Apparently it does show the price when using Enhanced Steam/Steam Inventory Helper, but mobile users and Steam client users are out of luck. Hopefully Valve will have stricter security measures soon, and not just another trade ban.

that is really scary they can change the name of the game
Yeah I found a way you can still tell if the items are real. I updated my description. Hopefully everyone can be made aware before it is too late for them.
seen it - hilarious ... surely easy to fix with all those market-economy restrictions and hold up times - too bad there
aren't more scams like these, as it would incentivize valve to improve the shit-tier item/inventory-economy/system in place
You give us the link video. When i opened the link. Oh this The Know. Already subs this channel.

Community Awareness.
Please read it.
If you MUST trade, manually check the other trader's inventory to make sure their items are real and not fake. If their inventory is private tell them to make it public or deny the trade altogether.

Real TF2 inventory ID is #440
CS:GO one is #730
Dota 2 is #570
If the inventory tabs where the items are on are NOT those IDs they are FAKE. <--- credit to okcerS for this idea!
Edit: Valve did a fix. I personally have seen what the fix looks like on a recent trade here: https://imgur.com/a/TNm50wl
P.S. That item is not fake, I just have never played CSGO so that's why I got the warning.
