The problems are that I have no idea how keys work, and it's a key.. it could already be used. The "Key" trade seems to be a bit sketchy in comparison to the physical trade of a gift.

You're right to be careful with keys, especially as a new user. I avoided them too when I started here. Having said that, I haven't had anyone give me a used key yet.

To be safe, you can ask for the key first. Once it's in your account you can trade the gift. It's also best to deal with someone who has high positive rep and if they have no negatives that's even better.

You should be safe dealing with Zomby2D. I also have a Last Remnant key and more here.
