You should know that the full retail value of bundle games is meaningless.
And frankly, no one (in their right mind) would take the deal you're offering. Just my two cents..

So is the retail value of BC2 ($12 vs $40). But that's what I'm trading against.

I'm not interested in money, actually. I only want to play games I'm looking for.

It doesn't matter if the combined retail value of the bundle games is $40 or $400, it doesn't work that way. Generally speaking, people trade bundle games for other bundle games, or sometimes low value gifts ($1~2 or so).

Even if you're not interested in money, you want a game for $X value, so you'll either have to pay the actual value or barter for something with equal value, and I'm afraid that you'll find that those bundle games aren't worth anywhere near that much.

Well, that's your opinion. I have some games I want to trade and if someone wants to have them, they still cost money to buy, since the bundles are over. And obviously, if BC2 wasn't on a deal currently, I'd be willing to trade WAY more games for it (like $200 retail price.) I do think this is completely fair for both parties.

(Btw, isn't there some rule against criticizing trade offers? :-|)

It's not really my opinion, it's more of a "rule of thumb" here, in any case, you're welcomed to try, but you should prepared that some people might flame you for offering bundle games for their tradable gifts.

And I don't believe so, especially since I was actually trying to help you understand how trades work here since you might be new, but I guess no good deed goes unpunished.

Good luck..

But the site is full of traders who trade bundle games for TF2/Dota keys. I fail to see the difference. Yeah, I could ask for keys instead, which I then sell on the Community Market and then buy BC2 with the Steam Wallet funds. I'm only cutting out that middle step.

So why is my thread bad while all those other threads are considered OK?

The problem is the (average) going rate for bundle games is anywhere between 2~4 (steam) games per key, depending on the games and whether they have trading cards or not. So, lets say the average is 3 games per key, and the average key value is $2, that means for a $12 game, you'll need about 18 steam games, give or take. The number aside, it's EXTREMELY difficult to find one person who actually wants all 18 or so games for himself since re-trading steam keys is very risky.

These numbers aren't 100% accurate, but it gives you a better picture, or at least I hope so.

If you want my advice, try to sell your games, steam games are worth around 1~2 ref each, possibly 3 refs if it has trading cards. And you can later exchange your refs for keys (1 key = 7 refs or so) and use the keys to buy the games you want. It's not ideal, but it's easier IMO than what you're trying to do.

Thanks for the advice, mate. I appreciate it :-) I'll need to find out what this "refined metal" actually is and then change this thread. (I assume "ref" means "refined metal".)

Yeah, "ref" is short for "Refined Metal" which is a material from TF2, it's used here as a kind of "change", same goes foe the "tod" which is short for "Tour of Duty Ticket" but it's worth more than "refs".

The (rough) conversion table is that 1 TF2 key = 7 Refined Metal, and also 1 TF2 key = 2 Tour of Duty Tickets, and so on.

Also, once you get enough "refs" or tickets, you might wanna head on to tf2outpost.com and exchange them there.
