Hmm, you're right, I'll edit this out. I'm not that experienced so I just assumed that it could be safer that way.
Middleman is helpful if you're buying/selling for money (paypal). If trading keys, using middleman isn't really any safer. If you exchange tradable games there is no point in involving a 3rd party. In such case it's even less safe to use a middleman.

That is not true. Trading keys is much safer using a trusted middleman.
Maybe if you are trading key for key, but how does middleman help when trading key for gift?
The one with the gift send his gift to the middleman, so does the person with the key. In that way no one gets scammed, unless it's not a trusted trader
You are right there are that risk =). But that's an issue that will always be with keys..
I still think it's safer with a middleman, I don't think most scammers would scam if a middleman like yatterman was in chat window with him.
