Update: PAYDAY 2 beta is now FREE for anyone who owns PAYDAY 1 and should automatically appear in your Steam library. [Source]

Thanks goes to to greenhope for this info.

I've seen a few unscrupulous people on here offering these for trade in return for permanent items. DO NOT trade for it unless you fully understand that what you are getting is essentially just a guest pass, not a permanent copy of the game, and are okay with that. No one in their right mind is going to sell/trade Payday 2 for 3 TF2 keys (or something equally as absurd), so as they say, if it sounds too good to be true then it probably is. The Career Criminal Edition comes with 2 extra free beta keys so that's where these are likely coming from. Anyway, the game's release date is next week (August 13) so the beta will end then.

If you thought you were getting a full copy of the game and feel you have been deceived or taken advantage of, you can try to work things out with the seller, otherwise if you can't reach an agreement I would suggest submitting a report on SteamRep and having the case reviewed.

Grats, I think everyone knows what a Beta is. And no it is not a "Guest Pass" It is a BETA, which Everyone should and mostly do know is a temporary thing.

I find it utterly ridiculous you people think people do not willingly pay for Betas. I have seen betas for certain games go for as high as $100 at times.

Also I make sure everyone I personally trade with knows fine well it is a beta before I complete the trade.

It is like you think everyone is stupid or something?

How about let people make up THEIR OWN MINDS about whether a beta is worth it to them and not tell them what to think?

And now your telling people to report traders to steamrep because they traded them a beta in good faith which was ALWAYS advertised as a beta? what the hell is your problem?

What is your problem?? All I was trying to do was something good for the community and warn uninformed people who may not know what the real story is. If someone wants to willing pay for temporary beta access (which in practical terms is the same thing as a guest pass) then so be it, that's their decision. They should just know what it is they are actually getting and not be deceived by other people looking to take advantage of the unsuspecting, that's all I'm saying.

And what you said about all betas being a temporary thing, that is absolutely not true anymore. As one example, Arma 3 beta (and previously alpha) is sold on the Steam store but it's not just beta access, it's also a full copy of the game. Natural Selection 2 also did the same thing prior to their release on the Steam store. There are other examples but I think you get the point. So not all 'betas' are temporary. Many are, some aren't. And this is where the problem lies because there is a gray area there. And no, not everyone knows what is what even though you would like to assume so.

No what Arma 3 is, is called "Early Access" NOT Beta. Early Access gives access to the Alpha, Beta and Full game. BETA gives access to the beta only. There actually was Arma 3 Beta keys for a time which infact WERE temporary.

Beta has always been a temporary thing and always will be.

You are sitting here acting like people trading Beta invites are scum who people should report to SteamRep for "ripping you off".

Utterly disgusting post.

People with more then half a brain cell know what a beta is, they do not need to be told by some self righteous fool what to do with their money.

Also no one here is deceiving anyone, I have not seen anyone saying you will get the full game. I find it utterly deplorable that you think you have the right to sit here and say traders are deceiving people simply by trading someone a beta when it clearly says it is a beta.

You even have the gall to call anyone trading a Beta invite "unscrupulous".

Even if someone did not know what a beta was, that does NOT mean the trader is being deceiving, and does not give you the right tell people to go reporting legit traders to SteamRep because a customer was "uninformed".

Arma 3 was on the Steam store as an alpha before Steam even launched their early access program to make things more clear on product pages. My point still stands and I'm not going to bother arguing with you any more because you are obviously retarded. I don't know what your problem is but you clearly have a big stick stuck up your ass. Might wanna see a doctor about that. Bye, I'm done with you.

And it was STILL advertised as Early Access with the full game bundled in, it was not advertised as JUST the Alpha.

You are a slanderous individual.

You obviously have some sort of problem, and feel like projecting that onto other people by making up this load of rubbish and slandering a whole bunch of legit traders as conmen purely because it does not fit with whatever agenda you have.

And resorting to personal insults just shows you have no leg to stand on, the only person here with a "stick up their ass" is you.

If you say so chief. You are the one who came in here and went ballistic when all I was trying to do was help people be informed.

And you know when I wrote the OP I didn't do so with anyone specific in mind, but now that I actually see it it hardly surprises me to discover that you are in fact trading these, which does seem to make sense. Hardly an unbiased opinion from your side since you stand to directly benefit monetarily. Not saying there is anything wrong with that so long as you are clear about what they are buying.

btw, thanks for the free bumps. It saves me the trouble.

No you were not trying to help people at all. You were trying to slander a bunch of legitimate Steam Trades traders for whatever reason.

I would have had ZERO problem with you simply stating "just so you know the betas only last until the 13th August", But no you went way past that and went on to spend the entire post, slandering people and telling people to report traders to Steam Rep for no apparent reason.

Also if anyone had said otherwise, until yesterday people had thought the release date was going to be the 27th of August since that is what Steam advertised, so still would be utterly unfair to call them "decieiving".

And you clearly do think there is something wrong with it with when you refer to people trading them as "unscrupulous" and "deceiving".

I said I saw a few people that seemed unscrupulous. Few does not equal everyone now does it?? And I said if anyone feels that they have been deceived or taken advantage of then you have so-and-so recourse. That is most certainly not telling anyone to file a report on Steamrep for "no reason" as you put it, because very clearly there should be a good reason.

What this is is you reading into it or hearing it the way that you want to, because as I pointed out you are not all unbiased in this matter since you are in fact trading these yourself.

Ok then please go find an example of these so called unscrupulous traders, as I have been scanning the Payday 2 beta trades for days now and I have not seen even ONE instance of anyone ever saying it was anything other then a beta.

You know what happens when 2 retards fights, in the end their both still retarded.
Its fine to trade BETAS. As long as both agree on the trade, then go for it. I traded guess passes all day when I had them. Id rather pay a small fee to get a glimpse of the game than torrent it or pay full price and be mad bro later on when the game sucks....blame the developers for not releasing demos of their product and charging $40 for games. support companies like TWI, that while they don't have demos, they give you guess passes and are on sale every other day and support the community with free maps, etc...
Traders must do their research. I have no pity on someone who doesnt research a purchase.
