It's totally clear that you don't know anything about prices, because as you said, you are new.
I suggest you to check some prices before trading.
Below you offered 2/3 refs for Portal 2 gift, now that's just a nonsense offer. Here is a simple clarifying for you:
Metals here doesn't worth a lot as you expect, the currency here is basic TF2 Key, which worth 6 REFs.
You can get some Steam keys for refs, especially if they were part of a 1$ bundle (or if no one really wants them, because they are poor quality games).
You will hardly ever get Steam gifts for refs, their prices starts from 1 Key.
Portal 2 gift is around 2 keys (=12 refs).
ok. it seems that they really are key++ priced. but i have bought great games for 2 refs each here... like batmans and burnout paradise and dead space... i know they're bundle games and the sellers got them for like 1 dollar. still, 2 pieces of metal is a good price for a game i think.
That's why bundles shine. Sometimes you can get a masterpiece (or a masterpiece look-a-like) for a price of a tissue, and you can tear your joy in it :-)
Batman Arkham Asylum is part of the current bundle's 1$ part, and if someone buys the BTA, and already owns this game, one can still benefit even when he sells for 2 refs. Same goes to Burnout and Dead Space. Titles never really tells the current value of the game in trading.
Ah, forgot to mention that steam gifts worth basically more than game keys, because you can always retrade it, and you can always know it will work when you activate 'em. Not like game keys, that you have to activate immediately yourself to make sure it's valid.
