Yes, you're right. My tolerance threshold of being in close proximity to an asshole is significantly lower than some peoples.
However, allow me to link here a couple examples of trade feedback used to show the type of person you're working with in a trade, without an actual trade/exchange happening.
These are usually traders warning users to stay away from certain people for their rude/inappropriate/scumbag-steve behavior. Weather or not they would be flagged and removed by an admin had admins still existed on this site, or weather they woudl've just used judgement on each case individually I don't know.
These aren't hard to find or rare cases of such negative reviews. I got them simply looking through my past positive reviews on users I remembered with -reps given for reasons outside of a completed scam:
