To open a 4 pack you can't own the game, when you open the pack you get 3 extra copies in your inventory, hence the collateral. You give the 3 copies back to the other guy, he gives you the collateral back. Then he has 3 copies to trade for full single copy price.

People ask for keys / Ref / ToD to open 4 Packs, and as colleteral? I still don't know how it works, could someone explain it to me?
