Alternatively, you can let your friend send me trade offer, then he forwards you the keys or he sends you the gift and then you send me the trade offer, that way no one needs to add anyone or goes first, which is the whole point of trade offers and tradable gifts.
My guess is simply that this particular gift is not tradable and can only be gifted directly to an account and can't be stored in inventory, which would explain why your friends needs to add me any why all these hoops are needed. This is why i only deal with trade offers and tradable gifts, can't be bothered with so much hassle, sorry.
