So, I recently made a thread, and I got contacted by someone on Steam who claimed he didn't have the game in the inventory, but he had 2 CD Keys, I didn't accept at first, and then he wanted to give me a key for "PaySafe Card", it's a key which you can use to add funds to your Steam wallet. I was reluctant to accept at first, but then I saw he had a bunch of "+rep" comments on his profile. (HINT: They're all fake). OK, I accepted his offer, and AS SOON as I gifted him Torchlight, guess what? He blocked me and deleted me off his friend list. So much for +rep, right?
In any case, I managed to find his profile, but I couldn't find it by trying to search for his username (Friendrew). He changed it to Smeagleh.

Here's a list of past names he used: Slender, Friendrew, Commander Andrevv, $L3ND3RM@N, Cpt. Andrew, James Bond, Smeagleh, Bleascanbergar, James Bond :3, Nobody lol. That doesn't mean he's not gonna use a new name, though. Also, here's his profile picture. Remember, he can change it at any time, so I don't know how useful all this is.

Well, it was my first time trading with someone here, and I sure as hell am going to be more careful.
Peace!

Oh, silly me, I forgot to add a link to his Steam profile. Here you go.

Yeah man, keys are never your friend in trading. MOST keys, not all, are either scams, are from indie bundles that were cheaper than what the person is bargaining for, or are from ireputable sources. Try to stay away from them, especially if it sounds too good to be true. Avoiding keys altogether is your best bet and just stick to tradable steam games. Gifts are risky too, but at least you have SOMETHING to work with if the trade goes through other than just some numbers. At least you didn't lose something really big, still a shame though. Thanks for the warning. Good luck out there and happy trading to all.

Yeah, I always knew keys are shady. My fault for being gullible, I guess.

Never go first in key trades, that is a must. You need to check and see if the key is legit by adding it to your library first, THEN send them the tradable game if it works. Make that your policy, if they don't like it then just simply don't trade with them. It is for your own safety.

Yeah, the thing is, it was my first trade ever, and I didn't have any sort of proof I was legit. And as I said, he had a bunch of +rep comments, so I thought he's a good trader.
