Cheers m8 =) - I think most people on here are looking to help other people out, as much as get something in return (at least from my experience, which is admittedly a very small portion of the whole). You see a lot of this in card collecting/trading too (heh, for better or for worse, Steam has created a lot of community market opportunities), although much of that has been automated so it's not uncommon to trade 20 cards over a few days without actually speaking with anyone.

Q: Erm, okay, why are you trading a recently released game for a $4 Steam title? This is obviously a scam, you filthy scumbag!
A: Okay, first of all, that second part wasn't a question (it was just mean!) I received the key as part of a promotion (I finally decided that I needed a decent monitor if I was going to get serious about photography) and seeing as I already own the game, I don't need two copies and this was the cheapest title on my wishlist =). If you want to trade for another game on my wishlist (maybe you have something leftover?), I will leave those games in "Want" list.
NOTICE! Google's "Project Stream" is still accepting sign-ups (for users in the "United States" only). So if you have a decent connection and are in the United States, or can get Google to think you are connecting from there, one hour of gameplay using their service by January 15th will apparently net you access to the game on UPlay's platform (although exact details are unknown until then). I'm sure this is public knowledge among SG/ST users, but just FYI.
