steamtrades is great idea, but it is missing so many functionalities. Trading keys shoud be banned.
No offense, but why? Whenever i buy a SteamWorks game from let's say GamersGate i receive a key basically, since the game requires activation on Steam. So why couldn't i trade that game, if i can show proof of purchase (GG, Amazon, GMG and all other sites send digital receipts in email and order confirmation).
I agree about Dead Island, Dirt3 and other leaked games keys. But some game keys are bought legally and unless you buy from Steam directly, every SteamWorks game will be in the form of a key.
I agree, but there are no way to prove, that one has legit key BEFORE transaction.
I believe screenshots might work. For example you buy Metro 2033 on GamersGate. You take a screenshot of you GG profile page and another screenshot with your game key inside GG (GG shows the keys under the game's picture, on the right).
But you cover the last digits of the key, in case the other trader changes his mind. It's pretty simple and i think it might work. Of course you can also take screenshots of the digital receipts from your email, but the GG/Amazon/GMG page with your key on display is pretty decisive proof i would say.
First off, I'm very proud to see more people questioning the dead island keys.
Its great to see awareness building up around it because There's nothing wrong with having a legitimate concern for your account.
As awareness grows so does the scammers desperation, more people turn down the keys and slows the flow of demand for more and that of their current stocks.
Some of these guys have very many keys and are in a race to move them before its used by the Actual Customer. So they will take anything! as long as its a tradable item in steam its of value.
Save your gift/s from these thieves! Even the smallest or oldest game they can use to activate premium features in Steam & begin again with another alias.
They are not just going to stop and go away! They have made a killing here on moving the keys and wont stop till the site is brought down.
