Just curious, can I ask how you know it's US only? I have a key of the game from Humble and when I revealed it, it said:
"This key is currently restricted in your country (US). Steam might not let you redeem this key. Would you like to continue?"
So mine seemed like it was saying anywhere except the US. Do you have any info on this? I'm trying to figure out of my Borderlands TPS is region-locked or something. It would be really helpful.
I live in the US and bought it from the US humble store so this is pretty much the only country that I can guarantee it will work. When I converted it to a url it listed a whole bunch of random EU countries and who knows where else (insanely long list). I guess the key is specific to the region of your store.
Interesting. Thanks for the info. I got mine as a gift link from another trader, so I saw a different message upon key reveal than you would have when creating the initial gift link. Really curious to know what restrictions our respective games actually have, lol. Mine was purchased in the EU, but I'm in the US as well. If by any chance you wanted to swap potential restrictions, heh, let me know.
You know what...this might actually work. I tried to trade this to milan9123 (1 post above you) and he couldn't redeem it in Serbia. We could potentially do a 3-way trade if you and him are up for it. So basically I will get 3 CSGO keys, you will get BLPS (USA) and you give him BLPS (EU).
Assuming everything works well I'm perfectly fine with this. I won't be an awful person and poach your trade, ha. You and I can simply exchange keys, then you can proceed from there, or whatever is most logical to you.
The only uncertainty is if your key will actually redeem for him...so I suppose if you are ok with him redeeming the key first to verify it does then we can proceed from there. I can say that when I attempted my trade with him he returned me an unrevealed steam key and screenshotted the region restriction message he got before revealing the key. With 50+ reps I believe that he is a reliable trader.

100% sure it's locked. Tried trading this a few hours ago and got a HUGE list of countries where it won't redeem.
Unless you actually redeem the key , the message doesn't mean anything
anyways if you think its locked and have gift links for the game i can buy it for 3 keys
I guess he didn't try it on steam yet...but yeah going by the message on humble, I think it's restricted to north America
