yea, i heard similar things in my own language. but the thing is, if you have cs or dota, people offers so many thing that you cant reject. and than of course they sell them to anyone who wants it for months. and the result, you got a good game, he got more than enough money/game for dota or cs, and people who really want the games got their games. everyone is happy except the ones who missed the deal.
i was thinking like you, and i came here to find just 3 dota to play with my friends. but now i have 4-page of items in my inventory.
i guess we all remember this thread when cs:go and dota published.
oh, btw, there are also lots of russian guys. they always lowballs the threads -no offense-, they already pay half price but that is not enough for them mostly, they want to make profit more than anyone else. lol for lowballer russian guys.
I'm not criminalising that, if it's that demanded, it's allowed. If you want to pay 10€ for a beta, do it, but you must know that it's still a beta and you're not having the full game. In fact, i gave my dota 2 keys to my friends, and they are not playing it. Next time i'll sell them here and probably get dlcs i'd like to have. But that's not the question, my question was: why are those trader trying to get money doing this? and the better part is that there's some people buying to those traders.
Example: I buy 100 alice madness returns and when the deal it's over, try to sell them for some new deals.
I have payed 1000€ and i can get 2000€, but by cheating on not knowing traders. I will never buy a game that has been on sale someday, why am i suposed to do that? steam's better with those things.
And a fact: try to buy alice madness (10€) for less than 10€, like 6 or 7, even 8. you'll probably know how hard it is and how's this community. so greedy.
"•Buying many copies of a hot-deal-game to resell it here it's bullshit. No one should buy it. In fact it's fraud."
I beg to differ. I, for one, have occasionally missed sales on Steam games because I didn't have access to a computer at that time (it's the price you pay if you work on Ren Fairs on weekends), and I was quite happy to be able to get them on Steamtrades for less-than-full-reatil price. And frankly, I don't see the problem with the trader making a bit of a profit for himself - after all, he is providing a service for me. How is this fraud ?
Yeah, i know it's nice to get a game which was 10€ on sale for 20€ when it's 30€ on steam, but traders won't do that, at least not to me.
Hm, you're either looking for the wrong game, or talking to the wrong traders. Or both ;)
Seriously, though, while I agree that there are a lot of greedy traders, there are a lot of really nice, reasonable traders here, too.
I agree, you can get L.A. Noire for 5€ or 10€ because the MP3 preorder. But just check this out:
[H] 50€ Steam Wallet [W] Skyrim + some offers welcome
tuliG: dead island , civ 5 , metro , braid , limbo
Suicide: low, but thx
tuliG: i did not mean that it would be for your all money :)
Suicide: so, show me your offers, i'm interested in dead island.
tuliG: i have 2 x dead island so 2x island for 40 ??
Suicide: Seriously, fuck you. Dead island was 11€ on that day. So, 20€ for both. And no, i don't want 2 Dead Islands.
What I see is that you offer €20 for two copies of a game that you yourself say cost €11 each, in essence inviting the trader to make a loss so you can make a profit. Who is the greedy one here ?
Also, telling people to fuck themself might be considered bad form, but maybe that's just me.
You must be joking.
As to your question, to make a profit by selling the excess copy to someone who missed the sale, of course. As both parties benefit from that, I don't find that particualarily greedy in itself.
Asking a trader to make a loss so you can get a game for less then its sales price - that is greedy.
Ok, so... then i must start to buy hot deals and selling them when the deal is gone.
I can buy dead island for 10€ and resell it a few days later for 15€ via paypal.
I won 5€.
Am i right?
If yes, i'm going to start right now and exploit this over and over again. Free money ;D
Well, yeah, you invest your money to get more money in return. Once again, welcome to Capitalism. This really can't be too surprising...
May I ask what you're doing for a living in the Real World (tm) ?
I'm not even working, i'm a student. I have 15€ every week, and if that's enough to make deals for 20€ games or so, i'll fucking do it.
I was testing this community.
Trading isn't for straight out buying games: you can just do that on Steam the usual way (unless you want to bypass regional restrictions, of course).
It's for trying to get a better deal from someone who happened to get a game you want on the cheap side, and don't want it themselves. If they don't want a fair deal, well, screw them - don't trade with people who don't do fair trades.
When it comes to trading, BOTH sides want to make a profit, or save money. Ideally, both do. Often one or both lose, but Steam wins.
Dude if yu want get game cheaply just buy cd-ke from trusthworthy net shop and dont cry like a biatch.
It's unrealistic to ask averyone who has game which was on sale to trade or sel -75% or more and when they dont want to trade call them bullshiters. Becouse know what ? - NOT EVERYONE BUY GAMES ON SALES, plus there is different sales from -10%....to -80%.
And look at the threads, everyone who has newer game and has offers at the same price game + smaller prices games. Becouse look at other threads who wants those trades - 00000 COMMENTS. (btw its like a half there is kids, who didnt buy games from theyrs money, so you could offer and get many different offers, becouse of the game popularity and so on..)
So dont cry, becouse not everything that you said is true and make sense too.
Most trades have the one person get a 10-20% profit from the price he got the game for (either buy buying it from steam or trades). 30% Would be a great deal. Noone sells the games for double the price, they might try but none will buy it anyway. And all games are not equal, there is regional pricing, how recent and often are the sales for the game, how much good is the game (demand), and how many have it in possetion. You could see that borderlands goty was dirt cheap 2 months ago (due to regional pricing mostly) but since it is a good game many people have used their copies and its demand (and price) has risen again.
And one last thing. Seller sets the price. As long as he is polite you cant do anything about it, he might want to sell it expensively and wait a month or sell it cheaper (and sell it within 1-2 days).
Trading is for many people just a hobby and not a part time job. Be polite and learn the market trends. You wont make a fortune, you should just be happy when you land a good trade. It is the satisfaction you want, if you dont enjoy trading then stop doing so. Its wasted time, because if you spent that time in a real job you would have made far more profit.
An exception would be russian traders (some are making their living out of trading). But thats a different story.
Bottomline: You enjoy trading? Yes? Then you have nothing to complain about. No? Stop trading, its that simple :)
Just realized that a op has neg repped me (lol) here for a trade that has never happened. Accused me of collecting multiple Street Fighter X Tekken while I never ever had even one in my inventory.. Dude you have some serious issues
You did the same thing before i did it to you. :)
Just delete yours and i'll delete mine.
And btw, i did not say you're a Street Fighter X Tekken collector. I said you're a collector because of your Assassins Creed 2 copies.
I will not remove anything. You can lie as much as you can. The fact is, I invited you to look at my inventory and tell me if you like anything and you said like a jealous baby "WOW You 're GREEDY" and disconnected. I DIDNT MAKE ANY FREAKING OFFER, and you call me GREEDY? Get a life and stop crying at forums. This thread is a joke and it will never be a sticky.
Your review of mine on the other hand was 100% fabricated lies. You talk about games I didnt ask and games I dont have. You just had to say something
Please, buy another copy of Assassins Creed 2 Deluxe.
Your offer was: SFxT for Dirt + something.
Obviously you're the liar here. This argue can go on and on and on...
:)
MAN STOP CONFUSING YOUR TRADES. I DONT HAVE DIRT, NEVER HAD IT OR OFFERED IT.
STOP CONFUSING TRADES. YOU NEG REPPED ME FOR A TRADE OR CONVERSATION YOU WERE HAVING WITH SOMEONE ELSE
OR YOU RE SIMPLY LYING
Maybe i had that conversation with someone else, if so, can i have your apologies?
Anyhow, you rated me negatively before i did it to you.
Pardon in advance. Still don't want to retrieve your review?
I will remove the negative review anyway. I just realized that the rep system here is strictly for scammers and such. Not for reporting rudeness or anything like that. I just flipped because you called me greedy out of the blue and removed me from steam..
Don't worry man, and check the sticky thread, in fact negative revies can be by doing lowball offers or being slow, or rude.
if you want buy game with cheap price you should pm some russian or uckraina dude , they have tons of cheap game with 40% or 50% discount , yo uare too tired with answer lowball offer you can put your option is " i wont pay full price for game in sale or pay price in store for your game " etc
and ofcourse ppl often trading because of they find something better here like you bought game in special deal or some preoder games then you trade for other old game + sweet so you get some profit and your trader get new game , it's the reason ppl trade game
What if i want to buy MP3 preorder for 40~45€? is it possible?
If it's not possible and the only price i'll get is 50€, i'd better buy it on Steam and still don't understand what are trades are made for.
i agree with most of that, however you seem to have missed the part about the reputation system on this site being a piece of shit, since any kid can -rep you for no reason, not only that, but also lie about the reason. ( +2 -3 rep for me today, just by coming across too many idiots )
if you're offered a deal you don't like, say "no". when you find the deal you do like, say "yes".
if it's a bad trader you don't like, just ignore him. you aren't forced to trade with bad traders or to take any trades you don't want. we just gotta sift through the offers we don't like, till we find the one we do.
if someone likes to farm dotas and csgos and other games, why do you care? not like it hurts you, unless of course, they scammed it from you..
folks will do what they want, and you can do what you want. if you can find someone breaking the rules, report them.
sound simple? it is.
"The one and only reason to make a thread here it's by wanting a specific game. If you have a game that you already have (like L.A. Noire) and you're searching for an Indie Bundle (Binding of Isaac, Super Meat Boy...), some DLCS or any beta key you want to play, make that thread."
I completely disagree with this. For example, I have a thread open, I have absolutely no idea what I want but have a bunch of games in my inventory. Are you telling me I am supposed to close all threads and only ever open one when I decide on the exact game I want?
If someone offers you a shitty deal, say no. Simple as that.
Making a bullshit thread ranting about the fact you have had some people make you bad offers, nobody cares. Everyone gets offered stupid things. Everyone lowballs from time to time. Say no and move on.
"Buying many copies of a hot-deal-game to resell it here it's bullshit. No one should buy it. In fact it's fraud."
I think you may have a dire misconception of the word fraud. Here, let me help you.
"Don't start a collection of one specific game. I've seen tons of CS:GO or Dota 2 collectors. And they're in fact beta keys. Come on, are you kidding me? Why are those people having tons of beta keys? Steam wasn't give you beta keys to resell them, they gave you to play it and invite friends to play it."
I completely agree that the hoarding of betas is a little annoying when there are people who genuinely want to play the game and have interest in giving constructive feedback etc. But at the end of the day, demand creates business. The more of the market you control, the more customers you will ultimately gain.
You are entitled to say whatever you want, but please make sure what you are writing is not complete and utter garbage.
I'm tired of bad traders.
Steamtrades.com is not made to make money by selling games. It's made to resell your gifts.
I'll explain:
If i have 50€ or 60$ in my Steam Wallet, it's not suposed to be able to buy 50€ or 60$ games. I'm giving you 50€ to make you say something about your offers.
It can't be Skyrim or COD:MW3 or Max Payne 3 because i can buy them on Steam. And by the way, if Skyrim was 33€ someday (two weeks ago), i'm not suposed to give more than 30€ anyway. Also, this summer maybe Skyrim is going to be 20~25€, so, why am i suposed to do those trades?
With no offense, but you traders are bullshit. Not all traders.
I'm really tired of this. I'm having 50€ in my Steam Wallet and you want me to buy you a 50€ game being your offer another 50€ game which probably have been on a hot deal?
Here's some hints to the Steamtrade community.
That's pretty much all i had to say to this community.
