This is just a notice that I will delete in some time to prevent others from getting scammed by this user. He's got a great rep and profile on Steam, but the gift will end up coming from one of his other accounts so he doesn't get his main account banned. After a short while he will get the gift he sent you revoked. He is now trying to trade the game I gave him here. That game will be unplayable soon as I have contacted Steam, so please do not trade for it.

DO NOT TRADE WITH THIS INDIVIDUAL OR OTHERS SEEMINGLY ASSOCIATED!!!

Got proof? Screenshots of the trade and then the revoke? What is his main trading account here... if its true he is only using an alt atm so its good to be aware of the main account.

I've got loads of info I'm sorting through right now and have contacted Steam. I'm not aware if he even has a main account here (because he's a scammer). He's even feigning ignorance on Steam. I'm working on it. I'll contact you on Steam in a bit and maybe we can get info out there.

What did you give him for it ? What was the trade?

Mordor for INSIDE. He claimed to have tried a bit of INSIDE earlier and wasn't in to it. I was certainly slightly naive and blinded by wanting INSIDE.

So you sent him direct and he sent you direct ? Did you put in a msg in the trade offer saying what you where sending it for?

I did not. I should have, but I did not. But yes, we each sent the gift through Steam to each other. He's essentially trying to give me around $4 now because 'that's what it goes for on g2a' and 'go ask big trader's how many keys it is'.

Just ignore it. Scammers love to taunt and harass after they scam. Tell him one time he needs to reimburse you the gift he stole. If he plays it off or ignores it and IF its true that he scammed you of course. Then just hand everything to valve. If they take action they can also track his ip to see what his accounts are and ban those as well.

Many phisher's and scammers meet their end that way. Nothing else to do tbh. Since it was a steam gift it can be tracked. If he had bought a code and then got it revoked it would be all but impossible. I think he made a mistake but Valve will know for sure.

Yeah, I appreciate the insight. I'm still talking to him and I found the lowest at Indiegala currently for $12.50 so I said I'd take that and let it go. But he's going on about the market and keys, etc. He's also claiming to somehow have nothing to do with the link in my post that goes to somebody with an oddly similar name, same logo, and trying to trade Mordor at the same time he acquired it from me....laughable.

Just demand the gift back. Its not your problem where he gets it. Otherwise I would say ignore him cause it sounds like he is just having a merry good ole time trolling. His mistake was using steam to send the gift directly instead of using a key code to try and scam. All trade transactions are recorded so Valve will see the trade and then see the revoke.

I would just give an ultimatum. You have 10 mins to give it back or im ignoring you and reporting you. Tbh if he scammed I would just report him and get him banned. Valve has lately been banning more and shutting down accounts for phishing and scamming.

Hope you get your items back or that he gets banned hard if its true. :)

Is there a way to know for sure that I'm getting a legitimate key that won't be revoked? If he tried to go get a key and give me it what's the best way? Steam Gift won't work as I imagine. He's revoked already once.

Sadly no there isn't and its why rep on this site is so important and why doing things like only accepting direct gifts with them writing on it saying what it is for and you doing the same. The only way that your trades are 100% guaranteed to work or be handled in case of scam by Valve is through direct window trading on steam client.

But as he used a steam gift and not a code its possible Valve might be able to do something. Tbh I have only been scammed once and it was also a revoke. Guy revoked a bundle he bought OR he had issues with payment. I think it was issues since it happened days later.

Was for 2 tier 2 bundle games and I lost out on 2 games. Moved on and chalked it up to bad luck.

You have to be more careful. Random people with no rep you have to take extra precautions and such like writing what the trade is for and such.

You traded with someone who has no rep?

He has no rep HERE. He's loaded with rep on Steam. That's where we talked.

Steam rep is absolutely 100% meaningless and 100% fakeable. He can delete any neg rep posted first of all and he can rep someone multiple times just by changing the name on an account. UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES should steam profile rep ever be considered.

Yes, I'm aware. It was poor judgement. That's all on me. Too trusting.

Rep on Steam means nothing. Get a few alt accounts/friends/whatever and you will have shittons of rep in no time.
Get Enhanced Steam http://www.enhancedsteam.com/ so you have a link to his profile on SteamRep website, where he already has a report http://steamrep.com/profiles/76561198157478483
