Yeah I saw this news a couple of hours ago. I hate to say it, but it's about time. v2 was really in danger of becoming vaporware for awhile there.

Yeah had the same doubts here but luckily it's finally all starting, I just hope the trading part will actually work properly since barely anyone (if anyone at all) beta tested with the exception of giving eachother rep.
I'm wondering how this all will work out though, ST & SG being integrated and all that gives me the impression that we're going to be flooded with new users, which could be a good thing of course, assuming we get dedicated mods ASAP.
the two are being integrated?? I'm not sure I like the idea of that. It was already annoying and inconvenient enough when Steamtrades would be down at times whenever Steamgifts was overloaded, often causing database issues that have plagued the system quite frequently over the past couple of years. I can't tell you the number of times that ST has been down only because of SG and for no other reason. That's why to me, keeping them separate would be for the best, but I guess we will see what happens.
To my understanding (and i'm no expert in any way whatsoever) the way the new site is being set up should lighten the load on the servers considerably, which was kinda the main reason this whole overhaul got started in the first place.
I did try it out and I've gotta say it's rather slick, ST is no longer just a simply forum without anything else, your trades have their own tab in your profile you can see your open threads as well comments/replies and just the way it looks and feels when browsing is way easier on the eye then it is now.
I'd love to go into further details but tbh it's been quite a while since I last bothered to check the beta site so I can't fully remember the way it's formatted, but I was rather satisfied with it that much I know for sure.
-edit- At least I can guarantee that the bug that's responsible for you not seeing this reply is gone in STv2!
Well that sounds interesting so I guess we will see how it goes. Cautious optimism might even be pushing it for me though. I've seen too many gaffes with the way certain things have been done before.
haha, I hate that bug. I did actually see this in my replies though. As far as I know it only applies to the OP of a thread, and only nested replies that they receive.
I"ll assume we'll be keeping our reps at the very least, would hate to see all the scammers get a second chance to scam people...
reps are being ported 100%, same goes for all profile data including the data from SG.
Only added the warning in case something goes wrong, imo it's better to take 10 sec to back it up then wasting an hour rewriting the whole thing if something does go wrong (which i learned the hard way with a thread that auto closed due to inactivity :p) the reps and profile data most likely have a backup already in case something does end up going wrong.
