I live in a free country and do not have to prove anything to you (when you behave like a child, although you are many years old, I want to sell my games and everything (I have nothing more to do.) Since when do you tell me that I do?

(If you were not so evil, I would easily give you all the evidence., But you behave like a child)

I do not care if you give me a negative reputation, because I know that they will believe you because you have many repetitions. If you are more comfortable with this, you certainly can easily do it.

  • I have all the evidence that you're just reproaching me for being a fraudster
+If I give you a negative reputation too, you will not delete it :) Good luck

so guys i ofc can go first with the reputable traders but not this shit "agk90".
I have gifts onym second account.
Who want buy with reps ill go first

Permalink

But what can be the reason for making a smurf account for trading? =D

Permalink

second accounts for trading are pretty common among traders, especially tf2 and csgo traders.

what the hell happened here? you guys all call him a scammer and ask for proof. and you know who doesn't have any proof? you guys. there is not a single shred of evidence that this guy is a scammer. he might be, sure. he also might not be. he was called a scammer before he even had the chance to answer. you guys attacked him so hard, no wonder he is getting defensive. he got -rep from people who didn't even trade with him, which is just wrong. the accusation of blackmailing is ridiculous. he did do thread hijacking, though. but that's a common beginner's mistake.

yes, he could very well be a scammer. but the way in which you guys attacked and accused him without any proof is not very nice. i hope that's not how you want moderation on here.

it is also very possible that he is a long time CSGO player (check his profile) who got lots of items from the game, sold them and now has a lot of wallet he wants to turn into paypal money. i am not saying i necessarily believe that. i am saying it is possible. no evidence to claim otherwise.

why not ask him nicely if he can make his gift inventory public, for example? most people don't even know that a public inventory and a public gift inventory are two separate things, and how to configure that. wouldn't that have been a better approach? ask him to do it, tell him how to do it and see what happens. instead agk90 calls him scammer right away and thus makes a serious discussion impossible (because the guy got super defensive, which should be understandable). and of course people gang up on him, post negative feedback with pseudo-proof, and the users believe the guys that are in higher numbers and have more rep.

Permalink

I never called him a scammer at first place nor did I give him -rep, I was just checking. he himself proved he was a potential scammer (by sending fake screenshot) and of course a troll (He literally gives -rep to people for not accepting his invite). Again, what else can be the reason for making another account for trading?

Permalink

i know you didn't do much of what i said. i was more talking about people here in general.

interesting that this is new to you, but seperate trading accounts are actually a thing. there can be several reasons for that.

  • you want to seperate trading friends list and actual friends list.
  • you don't want to get stalked or anything by people, so you take a separate account for the stuff that gets you in contact with lots of strangers
  • you don't want to risk your main account. in case a trader/scammer decides to report you on steam or steamrep (which might have serious consequences, even if he lied and you did nothing wrong) only your trading account gets flagged.
  • you don't want your main account become the target of hackers who try to steal accounts
  • you want to divide your inventory, so in case of a hack you don't lose everything
  • you don't want other traders to see your full inventory, so you transfer only the stuff you want to trade to your second account
  • you want to act as a middleman and not risk your main account

there are countless reasons, and people had separate trading accounts for a long time. i actually have one (TradingArts ^^). didn't use it for trading in a long time. i use it for card farming now. but i used it for trading for a while, because of some of the reasons i listed.

again, i am not saying he is not a scammer. maybe he is. i just don't like the approach people took here. they assumed a guy with no rep cannot sell expensive games without being a scammer. this is what they told him from the beginning. he must be a scammer.

you know, maybe he is just a guy who wants to sell his wallet for paypal, which is why he offers expensive games. maybe he has a second account, because a lot of csgo players do that. maybe he actually has those gifts. he offered to go first, after all. since gifts cannot be bought anymore for a long time now, if you get sent an existing gift you can be pretty sure it's legit. maybe he is just a beginner who wanted to try this trading thing. and the first response he got was that he is a scammer. he reacted badly himself, no doubt. but i have seen many people react that way. some people are just rude and react in a rude way if they get insulted. doesn't mean they are necessarily scammers. what i am saying is that there is no actual proof. the "fake screenshot" might as well be his actual second account. it's possible. now assume this is all true and he is not a scammer. shouldn't we feel bad for how we treated him then?

on top of that the feedback he got goes against the rules.

Trade feedback should only be used to describe your personal trading experience with a user. It should not be used (i) to post negative comments when you disagree with someone's offer, (ii) for revenge or retaliation when someone leaves you negative feedback, or (iii) for unrelated comments or trading experiences not directly involving you.

does it seem like any of these -rep actually traded with the guy? not really, right? this is a misuse of trade feedback. doesn't even matter if the guy left negative feedback first (which i didn't check, i take your word for it). revenge feedback is also not allowed.

i didn't want to attack you personally. i started answering you, because you mentioned second accounts. and then i just started explaining everything that i think is wrong with this thread. also, sorry for the wall of text. ^^

I agree with everything you said here.
(Most of what I was talking about is the general idea of having scammers and no moderation, I didn't -REP this guy or explicitly said he's a scammer).

Letdothat didn't even have a chance to scam since he got lambasted so quickly and now he didn't log into SteamTrades for 3 weeks. I think this situation was getting out of hand because we had a big scammer (scammed me and others) and everyone was on edge.

In the end, this guy might have been an honest trader that doesn't know how to communicate properly (thus raising more suspicion) but now will most likely never trade here.

Going forward, I think we need to give new traders, that look suspicious like this guy, a way to show they're trustworthy - public inventory, going first etc.

There is no reason to make fake proofs

also Kingdom Come: Deliverance was just released so there is no discount, and its steam key so its not (( have much wallet and want to cashout ))

he is 100% scammer, i wont leave him -rep if i wasnt sure
also he left me -rep before i do

for me the safety come first, too many people get scammed, and i'm trying my best to prevent that
so there is not need to let him scamming me to report him and leave -rep

thank you for understanding

Permalink

it's simple. yes, there are many hints that he might be a scammer. but you cannot be 100% certain. you simply cannot. so there is no reason for you to -rep him. feedback on steamtrades is supposed to be for people who actually traded with each other. you did not trade with him. so what you do is misuse of feedback, actually. and it doesn't matter that he repped you first. revenge rep is also not allowed. please read the guidelines, as you are clearly not following them. thanks for understanding.

i read that guidelines many times, and i understand every single word of it
congrats on being steamgifts support member , you may ask cg to do something about this site

people who broke all rules here never get judgement by any way, as an example:
many users has many alt accounts ( cards bots )
many users trying to sell ( accounts )
many people leave -rep for no reason
many people hijack other users deals
may people have ton of -rep, and still can trading and scamming more and mre

we are here in a jungle dude, i can accept people to broke the rules, but wont accept them to scam for simple 3 reasons:

  1. i hate scammers
  2. people get scammed mostly don't trade again
  3. Scammers always get good games instead of people who really want it ( many civ vi copies got scammed )

My last words, rules made to help people, but the rules need someone to control ( an admin or mod who don't trade)
for now, i cant leave newbies get scammed because of some useless guidelines that no buddy follow

again, that guy was scammer i can get you 100 proofs ,, he was offering Far Cry 5 at 15/2,, the games was not released yet,, but you keep saying " you cannot be 100% certain " what a logic

thanks for understanding. have a great day

Well, there is something wrong with that if there is collateral damage, meaning is it possible that honest traders get undeserved -rep this way. Do you think that's ok? What would you think as a new trader who comes here, and suddenly people call you scammer and give you -rep, even though you didn't make a single trade here. Would you think there's nothing wrong with that?

Please read my posts here, I explained the problem in detail.

i read that guidelines many times, and i understand every single word of it

and yet you decided you didn't want to follow them.

people who broke all rules here never get judgement by any way

does that mean we all should break the rules? what are they good for then?

many users has many alt accounts ( cards bots )

the mere existence of card bots is not against the rules, as long as you don't register them here and use them for trading.

many users trying to sell ( accounts )

sure, that's against the rules and it's a shame people don't get punished for that (anymore).

many people leave -rep for no reason

well, that's what i am trying to tell you. people leave -rep against the rules all the time. and you are one of them. the feedback system is for done trades. if you don't have any trading experience with a user, you are not supposed to leave feedback. if he leaves you -rep, you are also not supposed to do revenge feedback ("but he -repped me first!"). and you are also not supposed to encourage others to -rep a guy who you think might be a scammer.

My last words, rules made to help people, but the rules need someone to control ( an admin or mod who don't trade)
for now, i cant leave newbies get scammed because of some useless guidelines that no buddy follow

the problem with that is that there will be collateral damage. you will (or probably already have) left negative feedback for people who you thought were scammers, but really just were beginners who made stupid mistakes.

so, let's play this through. you think someone is a scammer. you are like 95% sure. he has no rep and offers high value games. on top of that he is annoyed by your accusations and leaves you negative feedback! so you do the same, you leave negative feedback and call him a scammer. other people see the situation, agree with you (without having any good reason to do so, simply because you have a lot of rep and the guy already has 0/-1) and also leave negative feedback. now the guy has 0/-10. nobody ever traded with him. nobody really knows if he is a scammer. but he has 0/-10. in the end it turns out it really was just a beginner who wanted to try trading. and you made it so that he will never again have the chance to do that here.

this is exactly why there is a rule that states that the feedback system should only be used if you traded with someone. it's not ok to leave negative feedback based on assumptions. it's not ok to leave negative feedback because your friend told you that someone is a scammer. and it's also not ok to leave revenge feedback.
