Don't let your friend convince you out of it. I have it and I've poured TONS of hours into it. If you use a "Getting Started" guide, it's great! (I thought it sucked at first, but once I read a guide and started taking its suggestions, I loved it!)

Well... if Minecraft is enough for you, then that's cool. But while the games are similar, they aren't so similar that you shouldnt get Terraria. Even if you don't want to trade with me for it, I still say you should try it. You'd be missing out otherwise ;)
