I have...

CSGO CS:GO key

I want...

CSGO CS:GO key

I normally wouldn't ask a question here, as it's not really meant for that, but I was gone for many months and I'm very confused about the lack of CS:GO key trading now.

I am aware that keys earned in-game can no longer be traded/sold. I still have a supply of keys in my inventory that are now apparently worth around double of what they used to be. What I'm confused about is that I no longer see anybody using CS:GO keys to buy/sell/trade.

Why is this? The ones that already existed in inventories are still tradeable/marketable, and they've jumped in value. So why is (almost) nobody on here trading for them or trading them away anymore?

I will delete this once I have an understanding, thanks in advance.

I would guess it is due to their being a limited stock of them that can be traded. Price fluctuations and potentially a limited market for people looking to sell them on for paypal. Those holding on to them may well be looking for an even bigger increase in value.

Could make sense, though I'm not sure that explains the simultaneous lack of people on the OTHER end (wanting to buy). Seems strange that supply AND demand on Steam Trades bottomed out. Especially since the demand on the Steam Market is surging.

tl;dr too expensive for user's purpose and a dwindling supply

people who bought keys mainly traded or sold them to cash out. the same people probably gave up buying with the change as there are too few in supply to use reliably to trade (which is easier to make money than buying a dying commodity) and switched to tf2 keys

people that used them to open up cases aren't going to buy them when it's cheaper in the csgo store except for the keys they can't

anyone who was buying them up already bought up most by this point. it's been almost half a year, anyway.

if you look at the keys on the market, there aren't many (a few hundred each except for hydras, which people didn't want anyway)

probably, anyway.
