That is probably an impersonator. I don't think Rikker will scam a $1 game.

I don't think I will scam any game.

Third, actually. :-\

Two trade banned so far. Not that that does much to stop them...

It seems that those of us with over a hundred rep ain't safe. Damn scammers keep aiming at those with lots of rep. I currently got me 2 impersonators to deal with. :/

Definitely report it to Steam--I've successfully had two impersonators trade-banned so far (not that it does much, but it kills off their alts one by one, makes more work for them).

I suspect the recent rash of impersonators are connected. I keep finding suspicious traders who are on each other's friends lists. If you have links to your impersonators' profiles, I'd be interested to see those.

Both are on my profile, take a look. I have reported both to steam but the first got trade banned prior. How long did it take for steam to ban them? I reported last fri or so. Someone also posted it on steamrep, if you google steam and me, should be the first couple results.

E: Both are private so probably not much use there. On steamrep though, someone found out the real account of one of the impersonators. But I don't think there's much proof as the guy ain't banned.

took them a week to ban the fake me. steam don't really care about the scammers and lets them keep EVERYTHING they scam.

IMO if those scammers used those games then I think steam should remove them but if they have already traded them away (most likely, as no one in the right mind hold onto 'stolen' goods) then I don't think steam will do anything cos other parties will be impacted.

Thanks, I took a look. Looking at the alias history, your impersonator who has already been banned had impersonated several others, too, including blinkdog. There is no proof, but I suspect there really aren't that many people using this technique, it's just the same person or few people rotating through alts and identities.

It took Steam about a week+ to ban my most recent impersonator. We'll see what happens with this guy.

This is not me, this is an impersonator. This has happened to me, and numerous regular traders, many times.

I am a moderator at Reddit SteamGameSwap and a regular trader.

Here's how the scam works. The person creates a new Reddit account and changes their profile name and avatar to match the regular trader. They add you, make you an offer, and link you to the Steam Trades profile of the actual legitimate trader. The rely on your inexperience with trading to take advantage of you. You must always check any links given to see that the person you are trading with is the same person, and not an impersonator.

The real me: http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561198054386037

The scammer: http://steamcommunity.com/id/76561198005643594

Bumblebee, I've added you on Steam to try to talk with you and clear this up.

Edit: Thanks to BigSexyDH for finding the scammer's profile.
