I traded mine to someone last night, I stayed with him while he used it. Worked fine for him (and he used his own code an hour before_ .. So you can definitly use seperate codes for same account

If they are having trouble.. try getting them to add the item to the cart BEFORE logging in, and apply the code. Then when they go to buy it it will work
