Bump got a similar message earlier today, noticed the shifty link and that it didn't open in the steam client so I didn't bother. Thanks for the heads up.
Looks like Valve doesn't really do anything about these ongoing scams and fake accounts...
I was received message with link and opened it yesterday in the evening, but i understood that it is a hack and my friend tell me, that it is a hack. But i changed my password in hurry, so i have saved my account!
Be careful! And if you linked, change your password in hurry and all will be OK!
anti-hijacking-bump :)
and i must say, that i saw these hijack-attempts very often in the past on tf2outpost, not so much right now.
You should never be careless about your data! This is a very old trick hijacking, mates! when you type in your data, always make sure the "http" turns to "https" with the exact adress of "steamcommunity"!
No steamcornmunity or stearncommunity or steamcomrnunity or steamcommumity... (see the differences? No?! You are an easy victim!)
Steamchat spits out a warning if you press on a link before sending you to any webside. This isn't installed for fun or to keep you in game like the stupid quit-questions in McPixel, it is a warning! Why you don't read?!
I don't think this topic here should be listed among the stickies, but we need a sticky about some safety rules and help for safe trading. All this ruins this steamcommunity and makes it a one where nobody can trust friends anymore, which would be very sad.
Beware, two guys on my the friendlist have pm'ed me already, It goes something like this:
"Hey, My friend cant add you(steam error), Add him for talk, he is interest for trade :http://lsteamncommunity.com/id/crab323/ "
their profiles
http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561198068595304/
http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561198010267980/
Now I don't know if these accounts were hijacked and then just used for scamming or they are actually doing it. Just warning to those people.
