Indeed. Its sad to see Yatterman and his reporting thread go. Perhaps we can at least have a stickyed thread for reporting scammers, just so people are informed.

The managers should put an alert in red in the part of above of the web so that everybody reads it, especially the new users.

Really good work with IP. The problem is that ISPs provides IP from DHCP, He only need restart router/modem to get another IP.

1 decade ago
Permalink

:/

1 decade ago
Permalink

yep :S. This problem will be solve with IP V6, then all people will have his own IP and admins can denied acceess to webs.

1 decade ago
Permalink

steam needs to start IP banning them so even if they do another account their IP will do them in.

1 decade ago
Permalink

Unfortunately that's not possible. A lot of people in many countries are using shared IP addresses because of ISP limitations and that will do them in too... :(

1 decade ago
Permalink

Darn what is left to do? Even if you ban them they will continue under another account. I guess the only way valve will be involved is it hurts them financially.

One user give me -1 rep few days ago too. I send a message to "lokonopa" yesterday to inform him about this frequenly new mode of scam, I hope that admins make an alert in web as soon as possible. We are not guilty of this and pay it with negative votes. 1 week ago that I'm trying to fight against this and I am getting fed up. I go to bump my post than alert this again.

Shame to see new traders getting scammed this way. "Look before you leap" is a perfect adage, but people are in such a rush to trade that they don't practice due diligence. Still, Steam really should collaborate with steamrep, cg and steam trades. Afterall, they are doing for free, what Steam should be doing anyways.

Oh well, maybe someday Steam will actually care about truly punishing scammers in the community. As it stands, unless you do a chargeback (which costs them money), Steam just doesn't punish severely.

If you are reading this, talk to experienced traders before you dive in headfirst. A lot of us have been trading since December and have seen all manner of scams.
