He has multiple steam profile accounts, he may have more as I have not dug deeper.

The trade was done WITH a middleman. This is a chargeback (credit card dispute) scam so unfortunately I do not have any logs, so I can't report him, but this hopefully serves as a warning.

I traded it with Gnarfenhoogan originating from comments in this thread (http://www.steamtrades.com/trade/KSnCy/h-battlefield-3-w-paypal-or-steam-games). Long story short, after the trade was done, he's got bf3 key and I've gotten the walking dead, 1.5 months later, I received notice from Steam that the game Walking Dead payment was not processed from the user ToX (wtfudoing account) and game is revoked from my account. This guy did a chargeback (dispute) with his credit card company or paypal. The trade status for that steam profile is on probation most likely initiated by Steam after he chargedback.

This is a loophole in steam as someone can easily buy a buttload of games, sell on steamtrades for paypal at cheaper prices as incentive, then perform chargeback. Did a bit of research and it looks like he had flipped the bf3 key I had traded him for something else. Elaborate scam I must say. Can be done even with a middelman.

I wonder how sad his rl must be to perform such shit.

Just a hint but never trade with anyone who has either

  1. Very few games
  2. Not been on Steam for long
  3. Has multiple previous user names

Sorry but someone with only 23 games yet been a steam account holder for 3 years and most of them being counter strikes and half lifes should not be getting a trade from anyone. Be ultra vigilant who you trade with.

Thanks, unfortunately I was not aware of the chargeback loophole. Given the fact that a trusted middleman was used, I let my guards down.

Ya don't bother trading with users with very few games and fairly new users. It's been so sketchy that one person didn't even sell to me and I'm not even new. And this also happened to me with NS2. Got removed from my library without a notice but after a little research it turned out to be a charge back. That's why a lot of people are turning to bitcoins and other transaction services.
