Does he have a steamtrades profile? You could have checked his profile 1st before trading, this helps prevent potential scams.

Here's his profile. He got fooled because Matrix128 used a fake URL. This link shows the profile that venadox saw. So this may also qualify as an impostor situation.

I know all of this because we discussed this during our trade a few minutes ago.

Oh, do you know if the Matrix128 linked the profile or venadox saw it himself? Always request at post in the thread the confirm the identity on steamtrades, as steamtrades profiles and be easily given with just the url. (Many people are scammed just because they trust the person's profile url from steam chat, while in fact it was not their own steamtrades profile and was that of another person)

Admittedly, I'm not sure who saw what or who posted a link, but when someone's profile is used like that, then something has to be done. I've contacted Froizki, the profile owner's link, to let him know that this was going on, so things should be resolved relatively quickly.

Oh, good to see that. Hope to see more people become more careful, so that scammers cant get their ways.

Bump for this!
Damn scammers!
I see he used my rep but attached his name?! Photoshop, wow!
Will try to report him in steamrep.
Traders should really check everything now to be really safe.
We'll got scammed before as well, lesson learned.
Damn scammers.
Tell your friend try to contact the game dev or reseller about the key being used, I did it with AMD, showed proof of purchase, they gave me a new key and blacklisted the scammed key.

You shouldn't ask for the url, ask him to post in your thread to confirm it from there. The url to steamtrades can be easily taken from others and impersonated. Also it is always better to be safe than sorry, saw ALOT of scam threads and thought of how scammers are getting so many the good stuff just because people are too lax.

is there any way i could get my game back? or will they just going to tell me to get lost?

No, the scammer can do anything he wants with the game now. There are no safeguards after you are scammed, that is why I hope people get more aware of these scamming issues because many successful scams will only build up more scammers as victims are literally doing charity to the scammers, by being too gullible.

Yea, so you should be more careful, and tell others too also. Because it is just like giving a chunk of your fortune to a rude and rich person(got rich by scamming other people)

Thanks for info, didn't know that.
However, we still need to be careful so that scammers cant have their ways, also I think that scammed steam gifts have no chance of getting it back (remember I saw it somewhere before).

yeah steam has some rules about trading but if it were steam gifts and there is screenshot and other proof that the trade was not proper you can try to get the gift item null and void. With game keys they won't do anything about it typically but it does not hurt to try to contact devs and steam.

To be honest, I got the game fairly cheap, the problem to me is that I now have 2x bad rep because of 2 scammers. Being new here and having bad rep is really bad, since now I have to go first if I want to trade, being more exposed to scammers :( It's really horrible. :( Very sad to have gotten scammed 3 times in the first day of trading :(

Scammers really suck especially when the Aholes give a bad rep.
You can contact admins or support here in steamtrades, with legit claims, neg reps are deleted from your account.

DO NOT TRADE WITH HIM! He will always say he wants you to go first and will take whatever you give him and run!
