Man, same thing happened to me. Frantically contacting support although I doubt anyone will actually help.
Well the APPID in russian store is different so the game is region locked you have to locked this before trade a game with a russian guy

Just take a closer look, and like we all (should!) know -> dont complain if something goes wrong with russian stuff ;)
Then Steam should restrict all items from the Russian Steam Store from being traded then. Duh.
But that would mean people wouldn't get screwed over and have to waste their time on Support only to get a "solution" that involves repacking the game so you can try to screw over an unwitting user. Yeah, get ready for that response...only it will take 3-5 days to hear it.
Bottom line, Steam KNOWS this is a problem but they insist on not indicating the difference between region tagged games. Sometimes it is meaningless (Darkness 2 and almost everything else), some it is a full region lock (HAWX2, TL2, Ridge Racer U), and sometimes it is other censorship (lots of the DE tagged low-violence versions). Steam is not transparent, and I am pretty sure they do it on purpose.
WTF are you talking about? I was gifted this.
And look at the screen shot. There is no indication that the Russian copy is region restricted.
The ONLY indication that this is region restricted was AFTER it I placed it in my inventory.
how can you know if a copy is a russian copy? if it says(in inventory) simply "Torchlight II"-it means it's ok? or the russian version is no different?
but you said "if not RU"...
anyhow, I meant the TL 2 only(that is part of the 4 pack). it appears in the inventory with just the steam gift logo.
The developer already ADMITTED to it being region locked. Best thing is he refused to do anything for those who has Russian copies.
How do you think, the developer more profitable to sell Torchlight 2 for $20 bucks or for $15 (from Russia)? ;)
It's most profitable to sell it for 20 in Europe/US and for 15 in Russia because then more russians are able to buy it which compensates the lower price. And with the region lock, Euro/US people can't get the game cheaper from russia.
It's already confirmed. Different people confirmed it in here, the developers themselves confirmed it, there's special versions of the game with a RU tag. Accept it, it's region locked.
I don't have a screenshot of the message because I'm not stupid enough to unpack a game clearly not meant for my country.
Luckily a Russian traded something of tangible value with my copy of Russian Tl2 so I did not lose anything.

And also, I sent a PM on Steam forums to BrianW last week asking what he can do for me. Till now, not a single reply. Luckily I traded it off with a Russian.

Don't worry. All Torchlight 2 versions are region free.
2 weeks ago my friend bought "Torchlight II Pre-Order 4-pack Russia" and he got 3 tradable copies of Torchlight II (without any tags!!!)
It's region locked and the store page did not even indicate that it will only work in Russia unlike Max Payne 3.

I was gifted a copy of this by a Russian friend of mine and now I am stuck with a Russian copy which I can't use.
At the point of purchase, nowhere did it say ANYWHERE it was region locked.
This is an outright lie and false advertising.
If any Russian with a region free copy wants to help me out, I will be very happy. Mine is the pre-order with Torchlight 1.
