Great idea! I've been thinking about the exact same thing since I was scammed by an impersonator. It would be great if these users could give some more info on their SteamTrades profile, such as "my registration date is , I have badges and more than _____ games, check these informations before trading with me" etc. This option could be used for important messages only, so hopefully everyone would read them.
I asked someone to leave me negative rep on purpose and link to the thread I have going in regards to my impersonator.
Your idea would be a nicer alternative.
Submitted this idea 1 month ago - still no reply and no changes.
Anyway, bump for good thoughts!
you can just go through the steamtrade profile to the steamprofile and check if u have the right person not so hard o.o
Well, most of the people who get scammed by impersonators are newbies, who don't have much experience trading. And I'm really tired bumping my warning thread so no one blames me about scamming people around. With this idea, I can warn newcomers about possible impersonators.
Great idea, but I'd like to have the "View opened threads by this person" and "View replies by this person" functions like other forums also :D
Yeah, nice idea. So you can see what kind of person is the one you are dealing with. +1
Just got a response from Support:
"This was suggested before, we might add something that makes the connection between your Steam and SteamTrades profile more visible, but we don't plan to add special warnings to the pages of traders that are being impersonated."
Well, there goes nothing...
Hello fellow traders and gaming aficionados. After dealing the past month with an impersonator scamming people on SteamTrades and taking their games using my credentials and seeing how scammers are on a rampage impersonating legitimate traders to scam games from unsuspicious, and mostly newbies traders, I thought we could use something like this.
We can have a personal message in the reputation page where we can warn other traders about possible scammers that are faking their profile and whatnot.
Let me know about this idea and if it could help the community.
Cheers! :)
