Here is his Steam64: http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561197968481778
(Thanks for sharing the information. BUMP!)
Yeah. It's possible...but the alert is for people to (1) get educated and (2) not trade with this user until Steam irons out the issue with the various users.
The victim did post a picture showing his gift was bought by a guy called "Makavali" or something. And the alleged culprit has no such name in his profile.
I'm not sure what you are looking at because the screenshot he posted here is a pic of Treasure Keys being traded to "capo dei capi" for a copy of DayZ.

He has a high REP score. He has made many successful trades recently.
(Those stats can be seen from his SteamTrades REP page.)
His SteamRep page does not have any trade reports on it: http://steamrep.com/search?q=http%3A%2F%2Fsteamcommunity.com%2Fprofiles%2F76561198107827378
He recently traded with webkat a (personally trusted) Russian game seller, so he may have received the copy through him. But it could have been through another person on his recent REP page...
But if you don't feel comfortable, go with your gut feeling. No one said you have to trade with anyone. :-)
Well, that's what I was thinking as well. The other guy had 0 rep so he was definitely a scammer. Still, I don't exactly understand why the copy of DayZ disappeared. Any explanation offered in the link?
The person who bought the original copy either used a stolen credit card, or contacted the credit card company and said that they did not authorize the payment...so Steam did not get the money for the game, and therefore they took it back.
He has a decent amount of rep and is asking a lot in return for dayz which should be the case since it isn't discounted anywhere regionally. If someone is asking for 13 keys of value or less for dayz, you should beware of that.
im in same prob with this guy beware : http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561198076160319/
He's trading it even on outposts: http://www.tf2outpost.com/trade/17081857
Btw, i'd like to see the (rude) people that want to buy DayZ for 5-6keys getting it from them and get revoked, it would be fun :D
if yes i hve traded dayz but not revoked and he say 2 hour ago http://puu.sh/6dEgQ.png
im still not sure,if dayz tradeable is already confirming puurchase payment
If someone is selling it for less than 14 keys you should be careful. The game may take a month or so to get revoked rather than immediately.

This guy has already sold a ton of DayZ's for 10 keys and people think hes a hero. Id like to see the look on their faces when its revoked.
At 10 keys per copy he'd be losing $10 per trade. Level 1 steam profile too so most likely a scammer.
Read the comments on his profile. The first 7 pages are from people asking and thanking him for the awesome trade they just made, the rest are from the same guys saying their copies got revoked. Level 1 account with 2 games is an obvious proof that he created this account with the only purpose of scamming, this is sad.
When I first traded with this guy, capo dei capi, he had a pretty high steam level and also charged the regular price for DayZ ( 15 keys at the time being). So I traded him 15 d2 keys for DayZ, and I still got my gift revoked even if the trade seems "normal". So I would like to warn you guys even if the trade seems fair and normal, you still have a chance to be scammed so just be careful when you are trading with others.
Thank you very much STUNGED for making this post.
Also this scam can happen to anyone - even the highly experienced traders so watch out!
No problem buddy, I absolutely hate seeing people fall victim to scammers and noticed that he was out for more blood so this was the least I could do. Your case was highly unfortunate for the reasons you just mentioned and hopefully you don't get tricked again by some other scumbag.
bump
i suspect on this: http://www.steamtrades.com/trade/z5MCF/h-dayz-stand-alone-w-12-csgo-tf2-dota-2
he says dayz for 12keys and the game is CDKey.....
Wow I have traded with this guy before (not for dayz, but he bought my copy of csgo). I am unaware of cd keys for dayz as I thought it was only available through the steam store. So yeah I would not buy this.
http://steamrep.com/profiles/76561198087644536
there's still 2 pending reports, that should be more proof than needed.
Thanks for the heads up. If the community speaks then people like this can't get away with it.
I am lookin for dayz for 12 keys... is it normal that 2 people answered me ? the first got quite good reputation ( and can see his inventory with 2 dayz ), the second who answered me on steam faster ( who i told him to wait because the other guy came first) and when i was gettin some time waiting for the other trader, he offers me 11key ( cant see his inventory and have 0 rep, registered today ) .... guess i could trust the first and not the second right ?
Anyone selling dayz for 13 keys or less is losing $ if they bought the game themselves. If the high rep guy got his copies through trading it is likely that the game will get revoked. I would only buy it if he purchased the game himself with steam wallet funds. The second guy definitely sounds like a scammer.
got the game from the first, hope it wont be a scam ( he told me he bought from steam btw )
okay i'm starting to worry about it ... he deleted the message from his offer and removed from friends, after how many times the game may be removed ?
Yeah that sounds pretty sketchy. The game may take a month to get revoked, so make sure you have his steam id so you can report him in case.
aaand it have been revoked, now the guy who sell it to me is still on my friends list, shall i ask him first if he want to give my keys back or shall i procede to reporting him on steam and asking them the keys back ?
also this guy is selling DayZ real cheap and the game is getting revoked later. report him
http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561198109236378
Do you have proof or screenshots or anything at all to support your claim? You can't report someone if you don't have any evidence to show for it.
cheers stunged i knew it i fucking knew it it was 2 good to be true 0rep selling dayz for 8keys some even less bollocks :P
thank god i didn't buy the game since i don't even like it
People deserved this. When you are getting a game that is cheaper than its sold anywhere then you should have at least some sense that something isn't right.
Instead they start pointing to legit traders how they can get it cheaper else where.
Dayz for 11 tf2 keys????????????

LOOK OUT!
My copy just got revoked two days ago.
This guy also looks like a scammer ( http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561197983334343/ ). He wanted to give me DayZ for Dishonored and Max Payne 3. And above all this he is also on trade probation. Be careful!

Be aware guys even if u trade with high +rep person. I don get back my item back support can help u just once and no more
Check these threads out from reddit regarding people getting their copies of dayz revoked:

If a deal sounds too good to be true, it usually is. Beware of trading with these people. If the game is being offered to you for 13 keys or less, ask the person where they got the game from and why they are selling it since they would be losing $ at this price.
If you do get scammed, there is hope to get your items back (if you trade items through the steam trade window)...you just need to find the right steam support person to reverse your trade(see below thread):
