I have a Saints Row 4 key that came with my new graphics card. Looking to trade it for another game key either on Steam or Origin. My account is too new to do trades directly through steam at the moment so it must be key for key unless you send your end as a gift. I will send first depending on your rep. Please make sure the game offered is valued close to what Saints Row is. I'm not interested in any of the Origin humble bundle games like Crysis 2, Burnout, Dead Space etc.. Mainly looking for Batman Arkham Origins but will entertain all offers.

He just deleted his posts on this thread (maybe a mod can see that he posted then deleted) but this guy ( http://www.steamtrades.com/user/muratyagli ) just ripped me off... He offered a trade and I told him I wasn't interested but replied offering 12 tf2 keys. After chatting, we agreed to a different deal and I sent him my key first because of his rep on here. After getting it, he immediately signs off and I get nothing. I even waited an hour before posting this to give him the benefit of the doubt. He shows up as offline to me but his profile shows that he is playing the game he just ripped me off for. This goes to show that rep on this site means nothing. That's what I get for being honest and offering to send first since I am new. I have a screen shot of the chat log if anyone is interested. I guess he picks and chooses who he decides to rip off or maybe I was an easy target since I'm new? Thanks for ruining a good thing, scumbag. This was NOT an impersonator. He even had the audacity to leave me a positive trading report saying I am a good trader and trustworthy!

Sorry for what happend bro, you need create a new thread with the title "Scammer: muratyagli-76561198099475295" and explain with details what happend. Report him here and remember to add this:

It is unfortunate that you got ripped off, but rep here certainly doesn't mean nothing. Find an honest trader with many many reps if you are going to go first with a key.

I got ripped off with a hearthstone key + got -ve reps from the scammers too. FML

Thank you very much. I just reported him on steam rep like a friend told me to but unfortunately I didn't use the proper format on my first post and was unable to edit it. I fixed it with a reply. Hopefully the mods merge the two posts. I do indeed have pictures of the chat log and will post them everywhere I can. It's unfortunate that he has a decent rep on here and I have only one positive report (if you dont count his!). I'm sure he will try and refute it but the chat log does not lie. It's not as if I have a ton of games so that I can afford to be scammed just because I'm new. I'm trying to have fun and build my library. Anyway, I plan on doing everything I can to show this guy is a ripoff, even if I'm the only one he has ever ripped off before or after.

I couldnt count 34 rep as a high rep to be honest. If you do future trades, make sure to check how old his Steam account is (this has nothing to do with rep, but people with old accounts tend to value it more and don't do stupid things. I take a minimum of 1 year).
Sorry about what happened, all you can do now is report him to steamrep :/

1 decade ago
Permalink

Unfortunately, old account does not mean that you will not be scammed. Old account can be bought or hijacked.

1 decade ago
Permalink

I've reported him. And although 34 may not be high in some peoples view, its much more than I have currently so I was attempting to be fair.

1 decade ago

Its come to light that he has been asking people for fake rep... Go figure. I'm relieved that there are actually some good, honest gamers on here.

sorry for you. i always check, if the rep has been made in a very short time. in this case he started trading only 2 weeks ago. that doesn't make him a trustworthy trader in my opinion. i'd rather trust a guy with only +10 rep, but registered 10 months ago.

ironically enough, i was his first pos rep. i don't remember, what we've traded, but 99% of the trades i do are gift trades, so there is not even a chance of getting scammed.

1 decade ago
Permalink

Are you sure it wasn't an impersonator? I was scammed today by this guy here and I thought it was this guy

I feel your pain brother, I lost sleeping dogs today which isn't value as much as SR4 ( one of my dream games lol) but still :'(
And its sad but I thought you probably would like to know this : you wont get your game back. Neither will I.

1 decade ago
Permalink

It definitely sucks... And I'm positive it wasn't an impersonator. I have many reasons to believe this. In fact, a few reputable traders told me that he got most of his good reps from giving away Mafia 2 codes and asking for fake reports... From now on, steam gift trades only for me.

1 decade ago
Permalink

hmm sorry that you can no longer trust keys. I feel the same way :(
Though there is always gonna be lots of tempting key offers just cuz of bundles and what not.

1 decade ago
Permalink

you only have to compare the steam profile you traded with and the steam profile of this guy. you can go on his steamtrades profile page and there you can find a link to his steam profile. if thats not the guy you traded with, it was an impersonator.

1 decade ago
Permalink

I'm looking at both now and barring some incredibly inconspicuous detail, they seem identical down to the exact url. Also, the comments on both profiles are exactly the same. Please show me a difference between the two... The games played, order played, library... everything. If it was indeed an impersonator, please explain to me how to identify one when the profiles seem to match exactly. Im not convinced at all but for future reference this would be quite helpful.

1 decade ago
Permalink

The badges, achievements, friends list (I see you on both pages)... everything is the exact same. Also, he miraculously has another good trader report. Why would an impersonator do both good trades and also randomly rip someone off?

1 decade ago
Permalink

Copy the URL of his steam profile into google, open his profile (and if you have steam enhanced) click on the Steam Trades profile icon.

OR

Open his supposed Steam Trades profile and click the link to his steam profile and see if it matches the one he's using to talk to you.

I don't go by rep either, its a shoddy system with so many variables.

1 decade ago
Permalink

It matched perfectly. I had each one in two separate browser windows to compare... And once again, why would a hijacked account be doing trades where he is receiving good/positive rep? This is AFTER the bad trade with me. Does that make sense at all?

1 decade ago
Permalink

Maybe he was trading cheap games not worth a neg rep for ripping off, whereas SR4 is more expensive.

1 decade ago
Permalink

But that's still not an indication of an impersonator. In my opinion, (and I'm playing devils advocate here, because I'm convinced its actually him) if you were going to go through the trouble of hacking an account, wouldn't you do as much damage as possible? Why would you make actual trades and fulfill your end if its not even your account. It doesnt make sense.

1 decade ago
Permalink

Well my last reply was under the pretence that it was actualy him, like you said. I mean he's only got 30 rep, my mates been on here for 2 weeks and has 100 rep. He probably took the game and set up a new acc for Steam Trades or something. That's my bet. Feel for ya but.

1 decade ago
Permalink

I apologize, I'm just annoyed at the moment.

1 decade ago
Permalink

you dont need to go in detail that much. if you see some stats like game count, steam level and so on and they match, then you are most likely looking at the same profile. and the correct way of doing this, is even simpler: just compare the steam64-id. you can see this id on steamrep.com.

1 decade ago
Permalink

What is your deal? I said multiple times that I thoroughly checked the accounts yet you still brought up the fact that it could be a fake. Obviously I did need to go into detail because me saying I had reasons to believe it wasnt an impersonator was not enough for you.

1 decade ago
Permalink

i think you totally misunderstood me. i answered to this:

"please explain to me how to identify one when the profiles seem to match exactly. Im not convinced at all but for future reference this would be quite helpful."

you wanted to know how to identify impersonators, i told you. and i never said something like if the profiles match exactly, it can still be an impersonator or whatever. you asked me how to check this in future trades, i told you that it's sufficient to check a few stats, and that it's optimal to compare the steam64-id. i am not sure, about what exactly you are complaining right now, sorry. ^^

Im convinced he just knew I had a key that was not really officially traded on steam and I was a new user and he figured he could get away with it. If an account is hijacked, why on earth would they be conducting trades with positive outcomes? Wouldn't a hijacked accounts sole purpose be to screw as many people over as possible?

1 decade ago
Permalink

same happened to me 3 days back yesterday a man came and told me his accnt got hacked like many others.so he said he will return my tf2 keys.

1 decade ago
Permalink

if this was only a hacker who stole the account, why the hell would he activate the stolen game on this account? no, his account didn't get hacked, i am pretty sure about that.

1 decade ago
Permalink

i got scammed by a 115 rep guy......after 20 hr he came up with new accnt and said he will return my keys in 2-3 days......and that guy who took keys selled and bought game.

1 decade ago
Permalink

Exactly... Killingarts, Im really not trying to be hostile towards you at all. I'm sorry if it came across that way. Now, I am in no way saying you are a bad trader or anything of the sort, but you are the top friend of the account that scammed me and because I believe you are a good trader and obviously have a great reputation here, that just helps to sway my thoughts towards the fact that he probably chose to randomly scam me and then delete the comments off this thread and thought he could get away with it since it was for a key. Also, why would you be a friend to an impostor account? You wouldn't because you probably had a good dealing with this guy and thought nothing of it. I wish a mod was somehow able to retrieve the deleted posts he made. Anyway, while I'm sure you had a fine trade with him, I had a few traders tell me that he blatantly asked for fake positive rep and gave away mafia 2 keys in exchange for positive rep. He even told me he had a bunch of Mafia keys and its all in the chat log. Great album in your avatar, by the way.

1 decade ago
Permalink

wait, i am friends with him? interesting. xD

maybe i will confront him with this case. i have to work now, but i will have a look at his profile later and maybe chat with him. have to think about how exactly i want to approach this.

and btw, i am probably friends with him, because we successfully traded (must have been some gift trade, for sure no mafia or civ5 key trade). i dont clear my friends list that often and have a few hundred "friends". i dont know most of these guys, actually. :D

1 decade ago
Permalink

Thanks. I think you showed up first because you were online. You will also notice he added/played Saints Row 4 right after the chat log ends and he signs off. The chat log is uploaded on the sticky thread about misuse and feedback.

1 decade ago

you mean on his profile page? i think, i showed up first there because of my high steam level. ^^

1 decade ago

That was probably it too. Did you find out anything by chance?

1 decade ago
Permalink

Jesus it's like someone died in here!

1 decade ago
Permalink

Sorry, I'm willing to take the loss but I'm not buying this impersonator excuse.... It would be a shame if this guy got off because he claimed he was hacked in a day or two and comes away with a free game because of it. I've talked to too many other traders about this dude.

1 decade ago
Permalink

Check if he has it in his games and how much he played. If his profile is private then it can also mean he is a scammer.

1 decade ago
Permalink

It was immediately in his games as soon as it showed me that he logged off and I checked his profile. He got the key, logged off then started playing Saints Row 4. Its not private.

1 decade ago
Permalink

Also you can check his steamtrades profile with his number shown in the link of his profile.

1 decade ago
Permalink

Sorry to hear what happened. But this is why Steam don't allow the trading of keys through official channels. It's just not worth the risk.

1 decade ago
Permalink

PSA: tardtard http://www.steamtrades.com/user/tardtard might also have been compromised. I just got scammed by him but good thing I didn't lose much. It's unusual that he has 122 +rep but has suddenly started scamming people. As you can see from his profile, he also received a negative rep yesterday from another person who also got scammed. Only logical reason he'd start scamming people is if his account got compromised because I highly doubt a person with 122 +rep would throw it all away for a game worth less than 3 keys.

1 decade ago
Permalink

Makes sense but has he gotten a positive trade rep since being compromised? This guy has. Thats the only thing I cant wrap my head around.

1 decade ago
Permalink

That is rather strange, if it was him, which I daresay it was, then he's probably just decided to do it as a one off and claim hacked. His motives are irrelevant, just make sure you do everything you can so he doesn't get away scott free.

1 decade ago
Permalink

I'm certainly trying to do just that.

1 decade ago
Permalink

Hey, sorry to head about that, I've just had the same thing happen to me last week, for Saints Row IV as well. Steam rep wrote that it's hard for them to process or prove trades done this way(steamkeys) even if you have proof of the in the chat that he's agreeing with a particular trade, which is very frustrating. I've reported mine last week but so far it doesn't seem like it's making any progress, hopefully it'll be better on your side by others told me it's a lost cause and just to be extra careful and pick the person you're trading with.

1 decade ago
Permalink

-rep for him by me sorry about that mate :)

1 decade ago
Permalink

Thanks, he had it removed somehow though.

1 decade ago
Permalink

i removed it since i checked your thread again i saw no proof even tho i know he scammed you since he claimed he gave u 2 games that you don't even have in library or inv but can you link us your report ?

1 decade ago
Permalink

Yeah, if you read the chat log, it says THREE games and lists them out. He agrees, gets the code and logs out. His end were all THREE steam gifts and none of these games were ever played or ever listed in my inventory, library, nothing... Yet right after he signs out and stops responding, he suddenly is playing my game. The chat log is in the feedback misuse sticky. Im done. I got ripped off and he gets a game. This is a great system. No idea what more proof I could possibly have. I was told to contact AMD to prove the code was mine. Im not sure why or if this would help but I have the official AMD email with the code and its the same code in the chat log and obviously the same code used to activate the game on his profile.

1 decade ago
Permalink

Now that does suck. I hope he at least gets flagged as a scammer.

This is one of the reasons I remove anyone I've traded with from my friends list on a regular basis--it looks bad to have scammers or people who are friends with scammers on Steamrep.

1 decade ago
Permalink

So now he changed his positive feedback to negative saying "I dont scam anyone". Yet he still is playing Saints Row and I still have nothing with the chat logs to prove it. This is exactly what I didn't want to happen. He gets away scott free with a newer game and I get shafted AND a negative rep. Hopefully I can at least get the negative rep removed. This is serious BS.... He is still conducting trades as well. Not a fake account, not an impersonator. A RIP OFF WHO GOT AWAY WITH IT.Now if you go to his profile it clearly says "I'm a scammer dont trade with me guys" with smiley faces like its a damn joke. I have the chat log, have never received his end and can prove that he received mine. How is this able to go on? Screw the game I lost. At this point I can honestly say I regret joining the steam community if someone like this can screw someone over and laugh about it while still doing trades and be protected by the community. This is probably a huge reason people stick to consoles or game alone on pc. This is seriously low and the few good dont make up for the huge circles of garbage who plot and scheme together to rip people off and get away with it despite all the proof in the world.I'm not sure it will help since it was a key I had but I made a report to steam about this guy as well. If he isn't a ripoff why does he not respond to me to at least give me an excuse as to why he conveniently signed off right after getting my key and why would he ignore my messages and block me after the "trade"? Not to mention I'm sure if they wanted to, the mods could see and possibly restore his deleted comments. I'm done. Give me a break...

1 decade ago
Permalink

Some people go to great lengths to do this kinda crap, honestly, I mostly avoid people with small followings if it's a large item in trade like Saints Row IV. As far as him gettin away scot free, you're gunna have to live with it, we all make bad decisions, it sucks right now to be sure, but eventually you'll laugh at how silly people like that are and how they are literally everywhere, what with phising and all these other shenanigans going around. And just like you have your side, he has his, nobody can side with anybody as, well it's a bit hard for mods (or anyone atm) to side with you considering you have 7 games to his 100+, cause people can easily call a claim like this and just send those games to an alt, it has happened here from what I've read.

I honestly think you DID get scammed, since you have some pretty expensive games on your list and you have the screencaps to prove it, but honestly there's naught much you can do but move on. Don't let this one instance turn you off Steam, these kinda people don't represent some of the awesome people you can meet on Steam. :)

1 decade ago
Permalink

I appreciate that. It's just a slap in the face more than anything. Its infuriating as it is to get ripped off but I could eventually get over that. I just have a hard time letting it go when he is basically taunting me about it. In addition to that, I just spent quite a bit of cash on a new build and looked forward to buying, selling and trading games. Having this jerk put a negative rep on my profile just because I justifiably did it to him may make it hard to get my foot in the door. It just looks bad and makes people apprehensive. The thought of losing trades aggravates me much more than losing the game itself.

1 decade ago
Permalink

I've seen him change his "Rep" on your page change from Positive to Negative to Positive again, so he's taunting you it does seem. I feel mods in this page don't do enough to prevent this from happen. They need to make a system that works like the one from an old site my sister used a few years ago called GameTradingZone, or atleast crash down on people that actively do this more. Either ways, you can't do much about it right now, best of luck on your future endeavours.

1 decade ago

Sorry to hear what you have been through. Also, it upsets me to hear that you wont deal with keys anymore. Maybe time will remedy this, but when you deal with a trader, his rep number alone doesnt mean a thing. You should evaluate his rep based on amount and frequency. The first trade the guy you dealt with made was 2 weeks ago. It means that he is as new as you my friend.

I wish the best for you in the future, cheer up.

1 decade ago
Permalink

Feedback DOES matter. For example. Now that he has that negative feedback, he cant trade for a key unless he goes first. Nobody will do it. But there will sometimes be dumbasses who dont care. Who dont mind screwing u there account. Just like credit rating. In the long run he will pay for it.
