i just started out so I not quite ready for a final verdict. The factions seem to much more different but since i started with the empire (humans), the base units are pretty much the same as in other total war games. Magic is new of cause, but i only had one hero with one spell (fireball) so far, so that wasnt very exciting. Magic might also turn out to be heavy on micromanagement, a fireball-user is essentially artillery you have to fire yourself. Character customisation is much more controlled with skill trees - well, lines actually - and the ability to switch followers and equipment between lords and heroes. Control is not a bad thing in general, but i feel it makes the character much less interesting. The semi-random character traits developing over the course of the campaign were a lot of fun felt like actual people and required intelligent use of your generals. I fear in TWW they are all essentially just instances of successful templates, like diablo player characters.
That being said, i wll definitely give the game a chance and anyone seriously interested in the total war games kinda "has to". It's a very legit attempt to bring something new to the series, frankly skipping rome 2 and attila would be much more understandable.
If however you are not really a total war guy, you might as well not buy it and if you ever want to get into the series, pick one of the classics. the best games in the series are rome 1 with emperium babarorum overhaul, medieval 2:kingdoms and shogun 2.

I haven't played any of the TW yet, but did buy Shogun 2 a while ago, as the series seems interesting and Shogun seemed like the best fit for me. I also enjoy Warhammer games and lore, but I'm still not sure if I'd enjoy TWW more than the games I can trade it for (I'm also on a pretty weak laptop at the moment, so I'm in doubt if I'll be able to rut it well enough). I'll probably hold off on trading it until after I've played some Shougun 2 and see if I enjoy the gameplay.

I'm most interested in Slime Rancher, but it's not as valuable as The Forest at the moment. Would you consider Slime + Spintires for it (current gray market values would be a bit on your side, but you games are in a current bundle, so I believe it's a fair trade)? Alternately, I could also take Slime + Ice Lakes + Frontiers + Sproggiwood + Event[0] (as those together are a bit less valuable than Spintires alone, so that might be a bit better for you; I'd prefer Spintires though :) ).
