it just notified me someone had accessed my account from the netherlands other than that it didn't do anything.
if you get link do not click any button on the site if it does not seems right as it could give you a rat which will download silently in your background and take your information so be aware and check out the site is secure first.
can i get a worm, virus or trojon because i clicked it because my computer seems to be controlled by elsewhere e.g. firewall closing etc.
wow, sorry man. I just receive the same message from a friend few minutes ago but I check here first to see who wants to add me and I see this :s
thanks for post it
np, i would recommend you to add nobody until this situation is over. i saw someone else has lost over 450 dota/tf2 keys :/
they can't do that from away if you have steamguard.
i suggest changing your e-mail password just in case, and scanning your pc for malware/keyloggers.
i always have my steam guard on :/. and i have changed my password and email and scanned my computer and found a keylogger.
if you check their website it was something like lsteamnconnity.com or something like that. one of my friend got hacked and that was the link his account sent to me. Always check the "Valve Corporation [US]" at the start of the url. NEVER login to any steam web site unless it says so.
edit: if you check this image you will see the FAKE one ON THE RIGHT and the legit one on the left. if you check the address you can easily see the difference
edit2: and this is what i mean by "Valve Corporation [US]", RIGHT one is the FAKE one while left one is the official.
Thanks for the info i didn't realize the url ad i won't be using other sites to login to steam except from steamtrades for a while :)
wow they look so similar i can't believe i didn't realize that it didn't have valve corporation. thanks for pointing the differences out i'm hoping it will help alot of people :).
why are they doing this? and what happens to those profiles who get stolen? wtf. first time someone tried to steal my account or tried anything like this i my 2 years on steam.
they are raiding people's inventory for tf2 keys, dota keys and games etc. I've been on steam for 4 years and this was my first encounter with these scams :/
steamcommunity.com (correct one)
steamcomrnunity.com (fake, phishing one - DON'T GO THERE)
depending on the font you barely see a difference between those both. it's always the same trick, they try. "a friend is interested / cannot add you. please add him". you should always get curious if someone tells you a story like this. :)
This is the first time i came across anything like this before i won't fall for it again, and the links look so similar i didn't even notice at first glance. thanks for the info :)
BUMP. It happend to me too :/ I am "fighting" for my account :/ I have made another one account to inform friends about it.. but It seems that I am little to late. :x
i got a message saying "my friend wants to trade but their is an error add him" so i did and it logged me off i relogged to find i was logged in from netherlands and it sent links to everyone. Watch out everyone dont click the links as i did!!!
